Nice dark ruby color. Restrained nose, with virtually none of the typical Rotie smokiness. On the palate, still plenty of red fruit, a bit tart, with a rather harsh finish. Overall, a bit disjointed and not as good as I was expecting, even given the vintage. Maybe an off bottle.

Rather understated Cote Rotie. Somewhat gamey, medium-light bodied and rather acidic wine with good red fruits. Certainly not an overoaked, modern style wine as one would expect from Gaillard. That being said there was not much to recommend as an example of Cote Rotie. Good.

In a very good place, red to darker berry, black pepper, tapenade, leather, not flashy but solidly done; good.
