Abv 12.5%. Amazingly fresh with apricot and stone fruit characters infused with spice wax and honeysuckle. Lithe, elegant and beautifully proportioned this showed incredibly well after 25 years. CHP 90 pts

Tasted blind. Pale gold. Clean fruit, a bit of wax and honey, gentle citrus notes. Nice, softly spoken white. Guessed SA Chenin Blanc. Displayed no signs of age whatsoever on the colour, almost suspiciously so, looked about the same age as the other wines we had from 2011 and 2012.

Medium amber gold, obviously developed, with considerable tartrates on cork; earthy nose but effectively fruit forward without any "mineral" character; similarly developed on the palate, no bloom and past its prime with developed fruit character of mushroom, vague citrus, crisp acidity and a medium saline finish.

Light-mid yellow, lovely sweetish honeyed nose, yet dry on the palate. Actually quite round and full bodied, lovely balance of structural elements across the palate. Good length, and all round stunning bargain for the $9 it cost.

NobleRottersSydney - Tahbilk Shiraz vertical (Lucio's, Paddington): The 1999 is mid-straw to light yellow in colour, with a nose of light peaches and honeydew. The palate is lovely and rich, with good coverage across the front and middle palate. The acid is attractive - still fresh and persistent. There’s excellent length of finish, and a few more years development left before this reaches its peak.

Mid-deep yellow, developed, sweetish nose of marzipan, nougat, and honeysuckle. Quite a heavyweight on the palate - a little oiliness, sure, but still enough acid to keep things fresh. Very drinkable indeed, although seems to have come on quickly in the last 18 months or so. Very attractive wine now, and will no doubt hold for a few years.

I can only assume this one is flawed.... The cork seemed ok but the flavour is bitter and with no body
