very much enjoyed this. At first aromas of turpentine was present but it went away with some aeration. Wine still has refreshing taste that balances well the sweetness....color does not give away its age at all

Fathers 60th Birthday; 8/31/2014-9/1/2014: Absolutely as good as d'Yquem '81 if not even better. Fresh elegant nose, full of honey, saffron, dried fruit, but with slightly more burned notes. There is also a very nice perfumed, flowery touch. Sweet, with great fresh acidity and a fantastic length. Slightly warm on the finish. Just proves to me again that Sauternes in general are under estimated, under priced and world class wines.

Now - you can have different preferences when it comes to Sauternes. But if you get thrilled from delicate, clean, fruity, silky and seamless, complex, not to over-powerful and fat ones - This is it! The color is gorgeously golden orange-yellow. The smell - sweet, clean, honey, botrytis, lanolin, petroleum, bread, peach, litchi, apricots, citrus zest. Taste - intense and rich rather than fat and fleshy, fresh acids, clean, amazing elegance, long, with a lot of fruits, honey, caramel, saffron etc and a honeyed malty character a la a good Speyside. Terrific stuff that should be served coo,l but absolutely not cold.

Wow. Absolutely delicious. Honey on the nose, with the characteristic botrytis smell, but not overpowering. Tasted like it smelled -- liquid honey, a hints of caramel and butterscotch, nice acid, good weight, characteristic mustiness of botrytis, good length on the finish. Did not taste at all like its 41 years old; seemed quite young and like it still had a lot of life in it. I really enjoyed this wine. Actually seemed like a good deal for the price.

such a great bottle, still a vibrant wine with an amazing appeal. layers of orange peel and length. Could have waited 20-30 more years.

Delicious cheesy nose.
Delicious, too sweet, certainly not past it.
