  • Opened Saturday night, ran through the vinturi, drinking out of Riedel stems. Initial nose of wet earth, and some blackberry. Pretty tight, decanting would help this wine open. Let sit in the glass for 20 minutes or so,( forgot to mention drinking at 58 degrees). A medium to full bodied wine, w/flavors that are still tight, but flavors of chocolate, raspberry and plum coming on, but taking a couple hours. This wine is balanced and neat, w/nice acidity backing up the flavor. Day 2 Wine has blossomed w/the chocolate standing out, and a casis, tobacco note that is quite tasty. If this wine would have lasted another day, I could see it getting better, but I had the final two glasses Sunday evening. If stored properly, I can see this going another couple years. Pretty solid effort for the $6.99 paid from Grocery Outlet, last year. Living in the NW and drinking the many rich, flavorful reds out of Washington, this style is much more restrained, classical than I'm used to, so I might be biased in that sense, vs some of the other higher scores I've seen on CT. If you can find this, at the forementioned price, a nice deal.

  • Predominantly carignan. Nice wine, approachable QPR, with additional weight in the mid palate. Blackberry, earth, cassis, tea leaf and speckles of chocolate. Finish lingers longer than I expected. Plenty of backbone and well balanced for a simple everyday wine.

  • Blackberry, rhubarb, anise, and earth on the nose. Dark fruit, with firm undertones of wet soil and cedar on the palate, along with a hint of tobacco. Lovely acidity. Light to medium bodied. Great value.

  • Still a really good wine. QPR is terrific. But the vintage is gone, and if you have it, drink it.

  • WS gave it a 90 and I think that's pretty right. Not sure why another user decanted. Pop and pour. Has a decent nose, some slightly violet note like Syrah, but also some leather and oak (I get the Bordo hints, too), but as a taste, it makes me think of a richer Spanish wine, maybe a RdD, or an older Rioja. A little chocolaty midpalate, good full mouthfeel. Not going to remind you of any one place, but a mix of things going on that is all its own. Cannot beat the price.

  • Despite being from the Languedoc, this wine had a very Bordeaux feel from my perspective... some plum, currants, and leather were notable flavors. Decent structure and a certain austerity on the nose. Looking online, it seems that carignan may be a substantial component in the blend (which I wouldn't have guessed on taste alone). PAME.

  • Dusty berry nose. Light mildly acid body. Rather bland and bitter, chalky finish. No flaws but not exciting. Certainly not a 90 point wine in my book.

  • OK. so this was good. Decanted thru vinturi about 30 minutes before drinking. funky earthy aromas that opened thru the evening. Better with the home-made pizza we made. Dark purple color. Tight yummy flavors. Slight heat/alochol bite to the tast but smooth, well integrated tannins. Medium-length to the finish. For $6.50 - a great QPR.

  • 5+11+17+6+50 = 89 - Very Good
deep purple/red color...weak nose that I had to coax out...it showed sweet black fruits that came across as very clean...palate has lots of red berries, with nice tannin and acid...there are some black and blue fruits in there as well

  • Opened, decanted for an hour then poured. All in all a nice but not terribly impressive wine. Not a huge nose. Red fruit, blueberries on the palate. Solid mid palate, but falls off quickly at the finish. Mild tannins. For $6 a bottle I'll buy a case, but not expect miracles. Still for that price an excellent QPR. Will finish the bottle tomorrow and see if it lasts or even improves with a day.

  • Purple-Ruby. Ripe red and black fruit on the nose. Well-balanced palate with fat mid palate and medium acidity. Quite nice.

  • The wine had a medium color and weight. Initial aromas were of red berries and sort of red candy. The taste was similar with a touch of cherry, maybe a little sour cherry at the end. The finish wasmostly of fruit and some dark candy. The structure was medium and a bit loose. This wine seemed was a bit unique to me, certainly not big and heavy, an afternoon type wine.
