See dawgdaze review in February 2011... ditto. Yes this is an inexpensive bottle of wine but how is it that they made it so... blah. Heat and fruit and not in a good combination. I wonder if I need a marinate?

Ruby coloured but with brick tendencies. Nice long aftertaste, but the wine showed a distinct lack of character on the palate. We couldn't really pick out any true distinct characteristics of the involved grapes in this blend (Shiraz, Cab, Merlot) - some peppers, a rustic tannic polish, and lots of cherries. It was quite nice, however and didn't disappoint. There was no pretension - a decent and servicable, and very affordable red blend.

Looking at this bottle of wine it appears to have everything I like in an inexpensive bottle of wine… a blend (Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and screw cap! I was very excited to try this….Color: Dark Ruby. Aroma: Dried fruit with a hint of strawberry jam and prunes. Tasting notes: Lack of fruit was very evident with a whole lot of oak & vanilla. The blending of this wine showed a lack of depth. Too much alcohol on the mid palette… the after taste was a good thirty seconds.

A bit lacking tonight in just about every aspect. Still better than a run-of-the-mill red, but doesn't have anything to set it apart. Will adjust note over the next few days if it changes. 86 for now.
Day 3: A little rounder a smoother, but faded. I missed day 2 but it probably peaked then.

dark colour - very much bilberry. nose: strong - hot peppers, smoke, ash - later very ripe cherries and sweet cherries. taste: balanced - no tannins, smooth with only medium accidity, the oak fully integrated, cherries, bell pepper. medium bodied and with medium finish. Better to open it for 4 than for 2 - just a glass after dinner. Good stuff.

Really good. Dark Brick red color. Fairly subtle aroma with some dark fruit. Nice smooth and rich taste. Mild tannins and a good long finish. I am really happy with this.

The nose is light but slightly earthy. Nicely balanced in the mouth - a bit of oak and lots of fruit, with even tanins. Mildly peppery finish. Overall, this blend delivered a medium to full red, much more mellow than either a Cab or a Shiraz, yet retaining some of the best characteristics of both. If you are looking for the softer side of "big and bold", this is it. It matched really well with hearty southern Italian fare. Let it breathe for an hour; ready now (2010). Great value for the price.

Paired with marinated London Broil on Christmas eve. Very disappointing bottle compared with my first (which was one of my all-time favorites). I hope this was an aberration. Very tannic and thin - did not pair well with food - or with anything else for that matter.

Tar, cedar, and a hint of black licorice on the nose. Palate introduces some earthiness, cherry cola and pomagranite rounded by a nice balance of oak. Nothing to gush over, but overall a nice Shiraz for the money.

Sweet and dark fruits, almost blackened by the sun. But the tannins, while they do have a bit of cuddle to them, still bite and scream for some fat. I drank this and wanted something charred, rich, almost vulgarly meaty. Strange; I normally shy away from wines like this, but I really wanted more. Drink now. Food pairing: pepper steak or spicy brochettes.

Consistent with last bottle. This has been a stronger PL bottling in the past. Not sure if shelf life dulled these bottles, but both were average. They were on sale so no disappointment, but has been a much better value in the past. Purple color had some bricking. Dark fruits had alott of leather and tabacco overtone.

Strong powerful nose showing cassis, oak and smoke. Its a medium bodied wine that is tart cherry (probably the most intriguing part to me) with a little cola and vanilla. Too much alcohol on the back end to really enjoy though.

Some bricking to brown, but still holding a garnet red core. It had some good aromatics, with cherry cola, some spice, and wood character. This may have been due to bottle variation, but it seemed to be on the decline. Not corked and no cork disturbance that I could tell, but a little flabby for this bottle. Still enjoyable, but lacked the punch of the last Clancy's that I tried.

Enjoyed with John/Karen paired with marinated London Broil. Not as good as my previous bottle but still a tremendous value. Nose was not as pronounced and the palate was not as fruity and oaked as the previous bottle. Tannins were more evident and a bit out of balance with this one.

Popped and poured through the Vinturi. Nice garnet, medium bodied wine. Berries on the nose; mouth coating cherry and blueberry on the palate with some spice, a little vanilla, just a touch of mint; fine tannins, medium finish. A very good sipper and paired well with a venison pasta dish. This was a gift from friends(Thanks Jodi and Kris for this bottle) and I'll look for more.

Peter Lehmann must just make 'sour' wine - their 04 Shiraz was so tart I returned remaining bottles. This is first 05 Clancy's and is a bit short on aftertaste and is also tart. The 04 Clancy's was not tart at all
