Downhill alert - drink up. Not overly tannic at this stage, but there is less fruit and concentration than I remember, even though my last TN on this is only 8 months prior.

Decanted 1 hour, plenty of sediment in the bottle. Full bodied without crossing the line to inky, crunchy or flabby. Concentrated blackberry jam and smoke, with a good finish that belies its price. Tannins are just beginning to subside, and this will only get better for years. Just a really solid, fresh wine, what I've come to expect from Matt Cline.

One dimensional, but not corked like my previous bottle. Wine Access sells a lot of wines from Three Wine Company and the write-ups are enticing, but I worry based on the bottle variation and simplicity of the petite sirah. Held up nicely on night 2.
3 on the AF scale.

Several bottles have been flawed (corked), but even those that were not were thoroughly mediocre. I bought this because I loved the Trinitas 2003 petite sirah (also made by Cline), but this one just isn't good. Comparable: John Lackey as a Red Sox pitcher.

Fabulous! Tasted blind, I thought it was Cab Sauv ... very dark and concentrated flavors of black fruit, not too jammy, just super sugar concentrated (in a good way, technically dry).

Lighter ruby color. Nose of freshly crushed blueberry, anise, earth, leather, florals. Compact, dense flavors of mineral-inflected raspberry and black cherry layered with iron and green tea notes. Wonderful fine-grained texture and enhanced acidity adding complexity and interest. Long, minerality finish grippy with strong tannins.

I concur with the other notes -- real concentration and plenty of tannins. Not a whole lot of fruit or acid, but some blackberry, spice, and cocoa. Well made, in a distinctive style, and a decent bargain.

A nose of dark fruit and spice, black purple in color. A full bodied big red, smooth, blackberry, blueberry, spice, a good mouth feel, long finish. Third time tried in last couple months, similar results.

Inky, thick, unbelievably concentrated stuff. Very solid example of a quality Petite Sirah. Very dry, tannins. It did open up over 2 hours, but it was still a tight, concentrated glass even then. If you're looking for a good PS, I highly recommend this one.

Light garnet; Nose of blueberry, florals, leather, and burnt sugar; dense but subtle berry infused palate with iron and tar, classic petite syrah; bit sweet; grainy , young tannins with complex overlay and finish

deep ruby-red color. full fruit aromas with a peppery overlay; pencil shavings, spices , black tea and floral flavors; still grippy tannins; needs some cellar time but interesting and benefits from food now; needs to decant

Heavy sediment. Deep color and long legs. Blackberry notes but tannins outweigh the fruit. Doubt it will improve with any more age.

I'm not a big P.S. fan, but I liked this. Better second day.

1.5 years since I last tried one. Still very powerful stuff. No signs of age; the tannins will dry your mouth out.

deep purple ; peppery, cassis-scented nose; intense spicy cherry fruit, lush supple texture; round tanins and surprising acidity; warm finish ; very accessible; potentially a big wine
