Had hoped this Rothschild winery would have a standard wine that lasted for 10 years. Well, not quite to my hopes. This wine was about 2 years over the hill. The flavors of the wine were still evident but the oxidation level was way too high to enjoyably drink. I see 80 bottles listed in the CellarTracker inventory....based on this bottle, if you are a holder of some of those bottles, hurry and drink up.

After 22 months in my wine cellar this wine has improved dramatically! It still has too much of a green olive flavor but it has mitigated a good bit and is no longer the predominate flavor. I now leads with a more cassis like berry note and now just a touch of mocha. Finish is the high point with some nice dry tannin. I left a bit in the bottle and the wine had totally fallen apart the next day. Its probably at or near its peak right now but I have another bottle I'll check in another 6 months or so.

This wine has a sparkling ruby red colour and a pleasantly fruity nose with aromas of black cherries, raspberries and plums, all with a hint of spice. This is a silky, flavourful wine, with a supple tannin structure. A great classic.

Eye: light burgundy purple. Nose: earthy, spice, raspberry, blackberry. Palate: tannic, fruit overpowered by acidity, long finish bt not as nice as in the past.

when i first popped the cork on this thing and sloshed some into a glass, it was giving off these over-the-top wafts of tomato plant — that spicy, sun-soaked smell — that i wasn't quite prepared for. after a while of me feeling uncomfortable and (at the same time) weirdly excited about it, the juice settled down and gave more the old-school bordelaise character i was expecting from the rothschild-owned winery. lacks polish, but a stimulating wine just the same.

Very bordelais in style, does not feel much Chilean. Upon opening it is quite closed at first, it seems aromas and taste will develop a bit more with time. Tannins are very soft, this wine doesn't really feel like a cabernet. One will like this for a change of pace as compared to the usual Chilean fare.

Bordeaux-like indeed, but only slightly astringent. Good balance but simple and a bit lean. Just OK for 8 euro.

Agree with other posts, real tight upon opening. Dark fruit, finally. Good aroma but cleaner than the color might suggest.

Mid-dark; berries; good Cabernet nose; light oak; balanced; soft; mid tannis; good flavor; some style. Nice with tri-tip, light peppercorn sauce.
