Opened one hour in advance. Rich aroma of honey and apricot. Lanolin dominates up front. Evolving, mutable finish shows, at various times, vanilla, apricot pit, stone fruit, among others. Some sweetness, rich, solid backbone, complex. This is beautiful, and definitely in its prime.

Light honey color. Very nice enticing aroma on first swirl. Sweet first sip, not too much so. Overall good…but perhaps past its prime? After a little glass time, I could sense something was slightly off, but also the hint of what made me pick this in the first place. Next time won't wait quite so long to drink it.

pop & pour nose: the aroma of overripe apple is equalled by that of a severely bruised pineapple and fresh caramel. It's heady, and almost too much at first. With a few swirls, my nose hairs get used to it. palate: Not nearly as rich or cloying as the nose might lead you to believe, the acid is pointed, but the direction it is directing me remains unclear. This taut, dry acid seems to be hiding the luscious fruit at least in part, allowing instead a faint rock sensation to touch the back of the tongue. I'm left hoping for a taste of the rich aromas promised earlier. I hope air will improve - right now it lacks cohesiveness, but it is still refreshing.

Not quite as racy as it was a year ago, but still plenty of life, with the expected quince and apple fruit now with a touch of honey on the back end. Perhaps a little more obviously demi-sec now, it's good to drink or hold.

Very nice fruit expression, with clear minerality and an acid zing. Stones and stone fruits. A perfect wine for a hot day. Plenty of excitement and complexity, but also great for just the shear joy of a delicious wine.

Pale straw color; Stone fruit with a slight citris aroma; Very nice Peach, Lemon, Lime with a nice mineral note on the end; Good acid but not too tart; Medium body with a nice long finish. Very nice wine for the price!

Much more complex and layered than it was a couple of years ago; a core of fresh apples and citrus fruits accented by delicate floral, honeyed and more savoury wooly elements. Still has the same sense of lightness and delicate touch, particularly in contrast with the Chidaines; lovely.

I love this wine and wish I had more left - time to get more. Moderate deep yellow. Good nose that has a sweetness and apricot and minerals. Sweet but balanced with acid perfectly, an almost decadant mouthfeel results - smooth and rich. Unfortunately, I think everyone I serve it too is put off by the sweetness - time to get more open, sophisticated friends!

Delicious wine, which walks the line between acidic & tart & sweet with polish and restraint. Aromas of tropical fruits and lime with an understated, but fresh and precise sweet-side palate, showing flavors of pineapple, ripe orchard fruit, and lime zest. I was surprised by its sophistication, but then noticed it was a Dressner product.

Just as good as it was at the Dressner tasting: vivid, riveting focus, great minerality, lovely quince-citrus aromatics, nearly dry impression. Had it tonight with baked black cod with mango salsa and it went beautifully with the food. Jean proclaimed it the finest Vouvray of her experience ('59 Huet CdB 1er Trie notwithstanding) which is a bit hyperbolic but does capture our enthusiasm for the wine.

Waxy and apply aromatics, the palate is ripe and sweet, but the best part is the crunch and cut of the acidity, which makes for a great sweet-tart balancing act. Delicious now but very primary, this bottle definitely makes the case that this bottling has the structure to age nicely.

modest sweetness; pairs well with any pork or chicken dish (mild to heartier), scallops, most fish but not raw seafood, as it's too full bodied. awesome value

Lovely once again, showing yellow fruited flavours accented by florality and Chenin wooliness. There's a sense of restraint and gentleness here with understated sweetness, a round, polished mouthfeel and a sense of real freshness and precision to the flavours.

Bright and appley. Long tangy finish. Somewhat sweet with lots of broad citrus acid. Nicely balanced. Mouth-filling, easy to drink and a little silky with a steely edge. Very nice. B

mixed and evolving medley of pear, quince, apricot, lemon, pineapple; some honey on the tip of the tongue with enough acidity and stony notes to make this not noticeable in the back of the mouth; longish tingly notes of lemon tea with honey; will get more

Wizards Dressner Tasting (and Theise) (Fluke, Newport, RI): 12/18/10: Wow, I've tried and drank this bottle quite a bit. Apricots and round, and everything else I mentioned before. Unfortunately, the acidity doesn't seem to quite be where it was, making this seem sweeter and not quite as refreshing. It's still enjoyable, but not at the same level as when 6 months or even a year ago. It'll be interesting to see if it continues in this vein or is able to somehow rebalanced the sweetness and acidity. Either way, it's still yummy, but not at the yummilicious level it once was. 88
9/27/10: Apricot. Sweetness. Good. So tasty, really. 88+
7/30/10: Stony apricot nose with a little apple. So round, with the sweet fruit being swept away by the acidity, allowing this to finish clean and refreshing. Very high on the delicious factor. 89
6/29/10: A touch of sweetness. Lots of apricots. Just so easy drinking, with so many flavors. Delicious stuff. 90

Doesn't show the same brightness and clarity as the bottle I had earlier this year, but it's still very tasty with rich yellow fruits tinged with faintly wooly and waxy notes, gentle sweetness and good length.

Pinon never disappoints. On the first night the nose was pure quince juice, with nice creamy body, mild honey, fruits and good acidity, really nice but not great. On the second night this opened up, with similar quince nose, but more honey, cleaner fruit, off-dry with tasty mineral on the mildly acidic finish. Aging this for a year or two will likely help. This wine is really nice 89-90+.

every time I take a sip of this, I think: "Why don't I drink more vouvray???" nose: waxy fruit, with a pineapple candy/coconut touch. palate: amazing. The wine gives an impression of unctuousity, but it doesn't quite reach or supercede overbearingness. (my senior-year English teacher would kill me right now.) Just charismatic enough to grab my attention, it's not so overdone that I tire of it. In fact, I love it. THe lemondrop finish finishes spectacularly. I just wish it - the finish - would hang around a bit longer...

This is a wine I need a lot more of in my cellar. Gentle quince and pear fruit with wooly and floral touches and a sense of restraint and elegance, there's a steely mineral and acid backbone beneath and this feels incredibly fresh, clear and precise - wonderful stuff.
