Dark ruby red with aromas of cherry cola and wood. It was balanced, fully integrated, smooth and rich in cherry cola flavors with a bit of heat. The finish was dry and clean.

Very soft, quite rich and showing some signs of the heat of the vintage. Could do with having retained a little more structure (and freshness if it ever had it), but pleasant nonetheless.

Surprisingly the last bottle had a lot of vigour and power. Still a light purple colour turning to ruby. Not a sign of evolution. Amazing. Aromatic on the nose of plums and liquorice. Quite simple this time. Palate is alcoholic, bitter (sediments) and long. Disliked. Wasn't the old Baigorri Crianza I expected.
Sorprendentemente la última botella tenía un montón de vigor y poder. Todavía un color púrpura ligero volviéndose rubí. Sin signos de evolución. Asombroso. Aromática en nariz con ciruelas y regaliz. Demasiado simple esta vez. En boca es alcohólica, amarga (sedimentos) y larga. No me gustó. No era el viejo Baigorri Crianza que esperaba.

Almost finishing this half case that I bought last August in Samaniego. Still a very good Crianza. In between of a purple hints and a brownish colour, a lovely yet simple nose of leather, black fruit and some spices. Palate is smooth, balanced and showing some elegance even. Nice. New wave vs. Traditional style? Is that a discussion? In my modest opinion, it doesn't matter. Let's talk about who is making honest, good, reliable Rioja and who nothing more than mediocre wine. That's it. Paired a dozen of grilled lamb chops au thyme.
Casi finalizando la media caja que compré el pasado agosto en Samaniego. Todavía un Crianza muy bueno. En medio entre un color amarronado y unas notas púrpura, una nariz rica aún simple con cuero, fruta negra y algunas especias. En boca es suave, equilibrado y mostrando incluso alguna elegancia. Rico. ¿Estilo tradicional frente a la nueva ola? ¿Merece la pena la discusión? En mi modesta opinión, en ningún caso. Hablemos de quien elabora un Rioja honesto, bueno y en que confiar y quien sólo un vino mediocre. Va de esto. Acompañó una docena de chuletas de cordero al tomillo y a la brasa.

Perfect mature colour of a stunning nose of clove, nutmeg and that butter factor. Cherries and little disturbing alcohol on the palate. Have to mention that las summer when I visited Baigorri Winery, bought a case, half Crianza and half Grenache. Crianza labels are in English do assume that is a refused by somebody in NYC. Think you are missing a good bottle.
Perfecto color maduro para una nariz asombrosa con clavo, nuez moscada y ese toque a mantequilla. En boca cerezas y ese un poco molesto alcohol. Tengo que decir que este verano cuando visité la bodega, compré una caja, mitad Crianza y mitad Garnacha. Las etiquetas del Crianza están en inglés. Supongo que de alguna partida rechazada. Creo que os estáis perdiendo algo.

This bottle is, this time, little over the Hill (That's the place I appreciate the most). Still modern in style, till dark colour. Nose is fantastic, meaty and with light cherry sauce. Balsamic and smooth on the palate. Run and drink these bottles as soon as you can.
Esta vez esta botella está un poco pasadita (justo en el sitio que me va) Todavía de estilo moderno, todavía de color oscuro. La nariz es fantástica, cárnica y de salsa de cereza. En boca balsámica y suavecita. Hay que darse prisa con estas botellas, tanta como puedas.

Popped an poured. Strong aromas of caramel corn, red fruits, and vanilla. Fruits were lacking on the pallat, but there was an interesting play on minerality, acidity, and tannins. Good stuff.

Not decanted, consumed over ~2 hours. Our friend brought this over as part of a Christmas present, and we shared it with them over a cheese plate, mushroom bruschetta, and flatbread pizzas. It's dense for a crianza, showing dried red fruit and, after some air, a bit of something like anise or smoke. Reserved at the moment but still enjoyable. There's no rush to open these if you have one; if you do, I recommend giving it some time to breathe.

Dark ruby color with a palate that doesn't take off very high. Instead, it cruises steadily at mid-altitude where one can experience juicy, ripe dark cherry, fig, and spice without going over the top. The texture is creamy and rich, and spreads evenly and lengthily on the subtle toasted oak-finish. Drink now until 2016.

This is big for a tempranillo, tasted more like a cab to me. Nice, deep purple color, a lot of tannins and a bit of an aftertaste here. Did not pick up anything distinctive with the smell.

We vergeten soms dat ook in de traditionele Spaanse wijngebieden als Rioja, nog bodegas zijn die absoluut onze aandacht verdienen. Ook hier gebeuren nog opmerkelijke investeringen of worden nieuwe kelders uitgegraven. Dikwijls zijn het mensen die afstappen van de klassieke Rioja-stijl met het teveel aan hout. Zij wensen moderne, evenwichtige en complexe wijnen te produceren, eigen aan deze tijd. Zo’n idee had de familie Baigorri die in Samaniego een nieuwe kelder lieten bouwen door de wereldvermaarde Spaanse architect Inaki Aspiazu. Zwaartekracht was zijn uitgangspunt. Druiven komen binnen op gelijkvloers en op de laagste etages rijpen de wijnen zonder dat er ook maar één pomp aan te pas komt. Architecturaal gezien een voltreffer maar voor de familie Baigorri was het enkel en alleen maar te doen om hun wijnen in de best mogelijke condities te maken en te verzorgen. Het werd een spectaculaire Crianza van 100% Tempranillo. Alle druiven werden geselecteerd, handgeplukt en gerijpt op hoofdzakelijk Franse eiken vaten. Het is een immens pure wijn getypeerd door een donkerrode kleur, een geweldig complexe neus van donkerrood fruit, kruiden, vanilla, zoethout en een heerlijke, romige zachte smaak. Finesse is hier de rode draad. De afdronk is speels en lang. Drinken tussen 2010 en 2014 bij uw fijnste vleesgerechten, wild en kaas!!!

Saturated nose of sandalwood, plums, beetroot, nutmeg and blackberries. Dark Crianza. Profund and complex. A new wave Rioja showing its own style. year after year one of my favorites, refering to a modern conception.
Nariz saturada a sándalo, ciruelas, remolacha, nuez moscada y moras. Crianza oscuro. Profundo y complejo. Un Rioja de la nueva ola mostrando su propio estilo. Año tras año, uno de mis favoritos, referidome a los de "concepción moderna".
