  • Mid- garnet to bricking red edge. Lots of ripe fruit aromas (classic warm vintage 2003) with baked morello cherries, cherry paste, red plum and light melba toast. Surprisingly bright and fruity though at 17 years-impressed! Super succulent on the palate- tempered with vibrant acidity, gentle red plum skin tannins and a long, languorous finish. This is a suave and sophisticated wine packed with flavour: sous Bois, candied cherries/maraschino cherries, rose petals and fresh species. Expressive, well-balanced fruit sweetness with bright acidity underpinned with flesh and wonderful depth. Classy, beguiling wine.

  • 2003 Burgundy Dinner (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): Delicious. This had a beautiful nose, very Liger-Belair in style, with sweet curls of blueberries and violets and fragrant spice patted down with a bit of earth. The palate was nice and round, with a juicy fleshiness and sap that belies the vintage. Here, flavours of blueberries and darker cherries blended nicely with a little twist of bramble and spice - really yummy. At the finish, a nice burst of juicy citrus lifted the wine nicely. Yum.

  • An off bottle, this one showed some varnish on the nose. NR

  • Popped and poured at room temperature. Still on good form, this is just easy to drink and a crowd pleaser given the fruit profile. Wish I had more. A-

  • Identical to my last note. In a great spot, showing dark ripe fruit but still light on its feet with a bit of structure to hold it for a while. Great first wine and/or a wine new world pinot lovers will also enjoy. A-

  • My first good taste of this wine, as the last few times I have not had the time with it I would have liked. Right out of the bottle this shows dark, blue fruit that is very ripe. With just a bit of air it is open and drinking really well, showing off a ripe year but with enough earth to it that you still think it is Burgundy. Enjoyable as a first wine, before we moved to a more gamey, structured '02 Gevrey. This will be a crowd pleaser for new world pinot lovers, but I also really enjoyed the ripe, sappy fruit combined with some earth and balance of Burgundy. Would be drinking now, but seems to be able to hold for a while. A-

  • This was corked, but others ignored that and enjoyed it for its ripe profile. I preferred the '98. NR
