  • Blind California Syrah (Our House): Aromas and flavors dominated by alcohol with some ripe fruit and spice. Unbalanced, low acidity, and a short finish.

  • Pop and poured, rocks it out from the get go; IMO currently in its' "sweet" spot - drink them if you got them. This is a great burger, pizza, barbecue, etc... wine. Wish I had bought more.

  • IMO this is one of the best $8 bottles around - dark garnet, blue/black fruit on the nose; blue fruit, spice, a little pepper on the tongue; nice acidity, fine tannins, decent finish. This will be just the ticket for burgers, barbecue, etc... if you see it, buy a bottle. I originally bought a half-case(Dan Posner recommendation) and now wish I had bought a case- I'll be looking for more.

  • Consistent with prior reviews - Very deep garnet colored, approaching inky. On the nose I picked up dark fruit, vanilla, with faint floral and spice notes. On the palate, medium bodied with ripe dark cherry, vanilla, spice and fine grained tannins. Medium finish, good balance of fruit, acids, and tannins. Very good QPR at $12. Unbelievable QPR at $6 (purchased at 50% off club member sale)! Our fave Syrah at the moment!

  • Sight: opaque dark purple with moderate legs
Smell: pepper, blackberry, black cherry, toasted marshmallow
Taste: full bodied, slightly smokey, pepper
A nice, every day wine. About an hour of air smoothes out the tannins, but the nose becomes greatly diminished.

  • Our first "Rosenblum" wine, bought this based on a recommendation (A Dan Posner selection). Off the truck - popped and poured - a little closed at first, needed about 30 minutes to open up. Dark red, medium bodied wine; reticent nose of blue/black fruits; fruit forward palate - blue fruits, baking spice, and a decent amount of pepper; fine tannins, medium finish. A decent sipper, better with food- IMO this will make a great barbecue/burger wine. Complex for it's price point - basically for $8 this rocks!

  • Black cherry and plum. Pepper on the nose. A strong taste, better than most Syrah in it's price range.

  • This is a difficult wine for me because I love high end Cali Syrah (Pax, Saxum, Carlisle, Kongsgaard, Copain etc.) and that really spoils me. I bought a case of this for a reception in my office because it was available very cheap and came highly recommended {A Dan Posner selection}. The wine was not bad, and it qualified as a reasonable, drinkable syrah with power and spice, but it was a bit too disjointed and monolithic for my taste. There was a bit of pepper, dark fruit, and some oaky vanilla. If you drink it side by side with wines that cost five times as much or more, you would use it to make stew, but that is not such a surprise. However, as an every day drinker or for large groups, it's 100 times better than the average crap you get at wedding receptions. I also think that it has prospects for improvement over the next few years as its rawness calms down a bit and more flavors poke their nose above water. NOTE that 84 is the high end of good, which is not a bad grade for a wine that costs about $8.50 a bottle.

  • More purple than red. Legs not well defined. Very nice berry notes that made my cheeks pucker - tart. Really good value. Very drinkable at under $10.
