My second bottle of this 7 1/2 years later and this wine is classic Calif. Cab. Beautiful mature nose of cassis, herbs and spice. No earthiness at all. Silky and long on the palate with some fine tannins on the finish. I have one bottle left but I don't think I'm going to wait 7 years to try it.

2 last bottles of the '94.. Both kept in same place, handled the same. opened & Decanted both...One was perfect the other was gone, completely oxidized! One drank perfectly after an hour or two, the other was poured down the drain. Interesting.

Nearly dead but not quite, alive enough to drink; stable wine threw no sediment to speak of, brick color and getting lighter; mild fruit and coffee buried in wood; medium light body with some mild fruit but fading....

Way past its prime; disappointing for a good year to not hold up at all. Hints of Cab left on the nose, less so on the palate. Tannins long gone, hints of dark fruit and prune but overwhelmed by dusty "old" tastes.

stinky and port-like on the first popping of the cork of this guy who had been stored perfectly since purchase in 90's. But 30 minutes of air opened it up into a beauty with classic cassis and cedar notes and no off elements at all. Medium bodied and smooth in the mouth there was a sense of structure without tannin that made it a delight to drink. A big surprise but a lesson in not judging an old wine on the first whiff.

The cork on this was soaked about 80% of the way to the top, very evenly, but with no wetness at the top. The nose was a little subdued, showing notes of forest floor, Chinese five spice, and warm blackberry pie. Dark garnet and slightly cloudy in the glass, despite standing up in the cellar for the last 2+ weeks. Medium-bodied with a mix of red and black currants, baking spices, and moderate acidity, which carries through the finish. Certainly enjoyable, but I think it's time to drink up on this one.

Wow! This was a hit at Easter dinner with roast lamb. Cork broke in half upon opening so expectations were low. But this wine had a great, mature cab cedar and currant/cassis nose with that hint of Rutherford dust... Deep, long and smooth on the palate - elegant, rich and supple with fully resolved tannins. This wine performed way above its pedigree tonight!

Cork was falling apart when I opened the bottle, this led me to set my expectations low. How wrong could I be?!?! It was fantastic. I filtered and airated by the glass. The nose is black currant. The mouth is full of tannins with chocolate, tar, black cherry, and spice with a long finish. This wine was far from dead.

Pulled from my dads cellar. I did not expect much but was nicely surprised by this one. It clearly was past its peak, but had a subtle nose of creasote and dust, with a palate of berries and dark fruit. short finish. Almost no sediment in the bottle however

Drank 3 bottles with a wonderful Rib roast dinner. Decanted all 3 a few hours before hand. This wine just keeps getting better! Last tasted in 2004. Has filled out beautifully, warm deep fruit, smooth long finsh. Could not ask for anything more from a CA Cab...

Cherries, some oak and dusty soft tannins. Coffee on the finish with a slight BV medicinal edge. This wine has certainly faded, but in a delightful and balanced way. I found it hugely enjoyable and declining in such a great balanced way. This is my first tasting of the 94 Rutherford, so unfortunately I have no other reference. I did, however, taste the 1990 Rutherford some months ago and found it more youthful and powerful. Drank over four hours, no decanting required and the wine held well over the entire time. The more I taste, the more I’m convinced that BV made it’s best wines pre 1995.

Tasted with a light meal. The wine was throwing off serious sediment, but unfortunately the restaurant we were eating at was not equipped to decant the wine. The wine was smooth and mellow, with fully integrated tanins and virtually no heat. The fruit aromas were stong at first, but faded within 15 minutes. The same can be said of the wine itself. The first taste showed nice fruit, but by the end of the bottle, all flavors were muted. This wine should be consumed as it is probably all downhill from here. Overall, pretty nice considering the original cost.

Nice nose - cherries, cassis, oak, roasted coffee. Lots of cherries on palate, vanilla, mineral notes. Fading on finish rather quickly. Overall - enjoable, but living its last months.
