  • Pretty good for 45 years old bottle. Nose was nice, but only between 60-90min after opening. Taste with minimum tannins, but still fresh acidity and long tail. I thought this will be already undrinkable, but it was much better than some 1er Gran Cru of this age, what a nice surprise

  • Pnp. nose had cedarwood, cinnamon, earth, leather, and sweet dark fruit. Palate was powerful and layered with cedary note. It drank like an older weak vintage Vega Sicilia Unico. Very enjoyable.

  • As aged as it was this held out as well as most good bordeaux with nice lively capsicum lifted aged plums with touches of cherries and blueberries followed closely by cigar and ash.

  • 2012 - Hi, Jonathan! (Paradise Pavilion @ MBFC): Alcohol :: 13%
    Light pinkish red with brownish hue. Soft and expressive bouquet of plum, leather, red cherry, sweet herbs, earth. There is also this raisin note in the core. Medium bodied, still fresh and firm but rather simple, lacks a bit of depth. Still lively and in fact, drinking very well now with medium length finished, quite juicy.

  • Jonathan visits Singapore (Pavilion Paradise, MBFC): This was very nice, and a great hit around the table, but I thought it was just a little out-matched by the (far younger) Pirorat that was served just before it. This started smelling just like a Bordeaux, with leafy tobacco notes, before opening up into some American oak notes chased by sweet red cherries and berries, loamy earth and undergrowth aromas and a beautiful waft of cigar smoke. The palate was very yummy, still marked as it was by fresh acidity, velvety tannins, and juicy flavours of red cherries and almost dried cranberries ringed with a nice waft of spice and smoke. Lovely stuff, especially as it drifted a long, fragrant finish with more than a hint of fruit tea to it. I would have rated this quite a bit higher except for the fact that it felt a bit soft on the finish, losing some stucture along the way, and that it was not the most complex wine for something so a mature. No Unico for sure, but it was very yummy for what it is. I enjoyed this very much. It is perhaps closing in on the end of its best drinking window, but it should hold fo a little time yet.

  • Drank for Christmas Eve dinner alongside a '75 Rioja that could not match. This has plenty of life and reminds me of the life that premier Bordeaux have, but with a distinctly Spanish flavor. Plenty of life left in this one. Needed a little time in the glass to really open up, but was enjoyable immediately upon opening. Good long finish and a wonderful aged color of orange. This is well worth getting more.
