I think this is beginning to tire a little. Nice cherry colour with noticeable brick on the rim. Nose is an interesting mix of sweet strawberry and cherry fruit, mixed with sous bois, brush and rotten fruit - very typical Pinot. Light to medium bodied, sweet cherry and strawberry at first, but dries out quite quickly, noticeable acidity, very little tannins left. Overall very tasty and a nice food wine, but lacking a little verve.

13.2% alcohol. rather restrained, but interesting enough to be recommended. i would prefer a little more oomph in the mid palate. mostly integrated tannins. the low alcohol level is weird because i thought 02 was supposed to be a great year, and i would expect more ripeness? and that is what keeps this wine from busting the magic 90 barrier.

Dense, rich pinot. Dark red, almost inky colour, spicy nose with a hint of red plummy fruit. Smells a little "hot" (high alcohol?). The taste was a little disappointing - not as fruity and smooth as a younger N.Z. pinot tasted the same night. This is more complex, earthy and spicy. The tannins are still evident and a little harsh, but lend a powerful finish. Good of potential, but not much fun to drink now - I'll give this some time to mellow in the bottle before trying it again. I tasted this again after a few days in the fridge, stored under vacuum. The smell has opened up immensely, now it shows a nice sweet cherry aroma, with some green wood too - still a little "hot". The flavour is smoother and more fruity, with the acidity and tannins more balanced than earlier.

Got into this after an '03 Burgundy and it was a nice followup. Like past bottles of the Medici, it had a nice dark berry nose and was showing a little more complexity than past bottles. Seemed to have a bit more earthiness coming off the top. On the palate, several people called it "spicy," which I think was a little oakiness - especially compared to the Les Moine Burg we started with. A great food companion that didn't show the heat of a lot of Oregon pinot I've had.

Tasty QPR Pinot that I had never heard of. I think I paid around $20 for it. Poured straight from the bottle, the nose of cherry, berry, and some kind of anise or licorice was nice enough. Light in color, no expectation of a bruiser Pinot here. Turns out this is the perfect QPR Pinot food wine -- enough acidity to pair well with chicken, salmon, or light meats, excellent red fruit, pomegranate, and again that slight anise flavor on the palate.
Another Garagiste find that I am please with. Anyone else tried one of these? Know anything about the winery?

This was a delicous and easy drinking OR pinot. Not overly dark - more red cherry with a garnet brick rim. Nose was fairly typical with lots of red cherry fruit and some complexity - sous bois, underbrush. Palate was sweet with lots of cherry fruit, almost no tannins and enough acidity to give it grip and pair well with food (salmon in this case). I don't see this lasting 5+ years, but should drink well over the next couple of years.

On its way down. A nice amount of fruit left. Booze sticks out a bit. Drinking nicely though.

drink up! a very nice, even keeled mouthful of pinot, but without the complexity of the '99.

Good fruity Pinot, more on the warm-climate style with more body and extraction and very little acidity. Not much complexity but decent for the price.

Good.
A little too hot for my liking. Decent warmer-climate PN - see my previous notes.
Cork closure.

Not very good on first sip, but it really opened up nicely over the course of about an hour, showing nice cherry flavors.

Even better than the last bottle, and no one could believe it was a $20 PN. Gotta find some more...
