NSG 1er Lunch at Nicolas. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of integrated toast oak, earth, red fruits. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, red pastille fruits, sour red cherries, earth, sweet integrated oak. Long finish. Very good quality. Good stuff - red fruited and good acidity. Perhaps just a few more years to integrate more and should be singing louder. Intensity waxed and waned over the lunch - alluring but irritating when just trying to nail down a proper note.

This really sings now, and will sing for quite some time still, but the balance, length, smoothness is great now. Love the cherry fruit, kind of on the "sour side", still in balance. Nice lighter red fruit lingering in the back. Still I would say the overall fruit picture tilts to the darker side. More cellar time on this one is all about preferences in my book.

A perfect bottle. Intense, complex velvety power. Alluring and beguiling, like a mythological creature calling you from the darkest forest to join her. You stumble along after the call, inhaling scents of mushrooms, forest floor and moss, black tea and oriental spices. The intensity of the forest chant fills you with partially developed fruit in an immense and intoxicating way.

Needed 30mins in decanter to open up. Nose is lithe and gorgeous with high toned florals but dissipated within a minute in the glass. Pastille notes. High acidity and clipped finish.

This wine has really come to life. The later in the evening the better. Pity I think this was the last of it. Bright red, nose not that strong, taste fresh and good overtones, reasonably long taste

This is a good proof why I still buy Burgundy despite the price increase, such a great fruit mixed with the mineral footprint. Kind of charming not being able to decide if the fruit is on the dark or light side, it is kind of both! Good length, a great spine and it is evolving in a positive direction. Great wine!
Great now - no rush.

Oh - this was great. Need some air before performing at its best, but not too bad PnP either.
Great fruit here, good balance - especially for a -08 - and I enjoy the primary tones and the mineral footprint. Good length. Will add some more character and mature elements going forward, but drink so well now it is about preferences. Hard to resist now indeed.

The bitterness goes with a bit of air. After that extremely smooth - ultimately it lacks a distinct character I think. Nice enough - it could just use a bit of punch perhaps.

Nose of minerality, marzipan, spices, dark, fresh berries, very '08 on the nose!
Palate is acidic velvet! Full og power and depth, concentrated and with integrated tannins. There is a lot of '08-acidity here, but within reasonable amounts. The wine ha enough power to carry the acidic sting.

This will merit a higher score in time to come. I beg to differ with the experts about the drinking window. It is too early to drink it at its best. It needs a few hours before it opens up. It is a really good burgundy. When the nose is there it is classic and the taste is berries and with a strong backbone.

Apologies to those who have looked at my previous note on this wine as I must have put the note under the wrong wine. I have only just opened the first of the cases I bought. This is an easy drinking wine. Nose not particularly strong but black fruit.Very pleasant soft tannins and gentle flavours with a good but not long after taste. Not a typical Burgundy - no oak. If you're looking for a show stopper it's not that, but if you want a gentle wine that you can drink and enjoy with friends - it's there

In the zone now with beginning mature earthy notes. Red fruited and well made.
