Bottle: Purchased upon release for $8.50. Stored in a passively cooled cellar. Fill and cork perfect. Pretty disjointed and not pleasant when first opened. Poured half into a 375 and stored overnight in the fridge. Review is of second night.
Color: Deep ruby with garnet rim. Very nice with no browning.
Nose: Complex. Notes of iodine, blackberry jam, oak, vanilla and earth.
Palate: Very long, balanced and complete on the palate. Flavors echo the nose with a hint of chocolate. Amazing length with a very nice finish. Very claret like.
I almost drain poured this when first opened. But, after 24 hours, this has blossomed into a remarkable wine.

Varied and eclectic wines at Salil's (Vernon, CT): An interesting Zin that has aged into a claret-like wine. Cedar, vanilla, dried red fruits and herbs. Soft and creamy on the palate and a bit short on the end, but this gets lots of points for the range of flavors produced.

Wines that didn't suck (Vernon, CT): Cherries, herbs, and pronounced oak (vanilla) notes. On the palate, seamless; simultaneously sappy and light, though more woody vanilla than I would hope for at this stage. Yummy.

A few good men, many great wines (My place, CT): I'd like Zinfandel a lot more if more versions tasted like this. Very complex, with an array of fresh and dried red fruited flavours, cedar, old wood, and higher toned spicy notes all coming together into a lovely fragrance. It feels remarkably silky and light on its feet with the tannin fully integrated, bright acids giving it lift and keeping it very fresh, and leftovers hold up surprisingly well the next day.
Still drinking well - shocked at the vibrant fruit and complexity! I am always impressed by Drapper's winemaking skil and I will never second guess the age-ability of these wines again!

The Blind Drunks monthly tasting (Chateau Lay): Notes off prune, dried fruit, and with air, a chocolate note. Flavors of red currant and earth, turning slightly acidic on the finish.
