Bottle 207/770 - Sadly this was slightly oxidised bottle and came from the same case that a perfectly fine bottle of Suchots 08 came from that we had two years ago (rated 95+ then). The quality was apparent and this bottle was a lot less oxisidesed than a very oxidised Reignots 05 this evening. Refer to my previous notes for clean bottle. Shame.

This was terrific straight off the bat. A slight hint of burnt rubber on the nose initially quickly gave way to very lush and sexy red fruits, good acidity here with fine depth and finesse. A step up from the village wines of CLB enjoyed the evening before, and those are at a great level of course, so most certainly very high 1er cru level here knocking on GC doors. Then the GC in disguise was the Reignots 08 tasted alongside. This Suchots was a wine that was finished with such ease over a lovely dinner with a friend. 95+

La Paulée de New York 2011: Wow: an even classier nose with a touch more subtlety than the VR Clos du Chateau monopole. Same beautiful tire tone I relish. 92/93.

From magnum. A lot of wood here to work through. High toned fruit. Will need time to come into balance.

Very pretty wine, if not tons of depth. Nice minerality and red fruit. Relatively light.

Floral but very lean for a 1er cru. Red fruit and minerals are lovely but it drinks more like a village.

Feminine nose. Floral, with cut grass and pink grapefruit. Minerals and pleasant red fruit on the palate. Slightly short. I was expecting more.

La Paulee de NY - Grand Tasting (2008 Vintage) (Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC): more red fruit than the first wine, but a little restrained/muted on the midpalate.
