While the cork started to break in the waiter’s hands, we managed to rescue it in 2 full pieces, but I was of course more worried about the bottle as a result. However, what emerged was a 23+ year old Bordeaux with a great mix of dark fruit, tar, a hint of sweetness, resolved tannins, leather, medium finish, etc. Fantastic QPR and the remains even drank well on the second night.

Similar notes to last time but seemingly an even better bottle. Great balance of structure, dark fruit, tar, secondary characteristics and medium finish. Hints of port, almonds started to emerge only after 2 hours suggesting this modest wine still has more life ahead. Great with porterhouse at Keens.

Quite decent and better than expected, especially for a sub-$30 bottle at retail from a great vintage with 23 years of age. Lots of structure and started tight but opened up with black fruit, still some tannin and some acidity and spice and tertiary characteristics, short-medium finish. Not likely to improve but very drinkable and good QPR.

Recent auction purchase. On the pop 'n pour, this was very tight and seemed completely dried out, showing only structure and oak. After vacuum sealing this and leaving overnight, this filled out a bit and become very enjoyable. Was certainly in the drying out phase of its life, but there was still some fruit left. Mouthfeel was very good and there was enough acidity to make it seem balanced. Wouldn't hold onto these much longer if you have any.

This was better than I was expecting. Maturing tannins are present but very enjoyable at 16 years. Notes of upfront black cherry. Lots of sediment. 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet franc, and the rest cabernet Sauvignon plus a small part of Malbec. 13.5% alcohol. Paid $15. 2080 cases made. From Josue Harari Collection.

Very smooth, edge'less, nicely balanced and probably honest BDX Sup. One important thing besides my non-informative tasting note: Drink Up! I am very sure it won't get better, however right now it is still alive!

Fabulous bottle. Nose of currents, plums, leather and earth. Showing now signs of decay. It had medium acidity, medium plus body and length. Again with palate of black cherry, plum, leather, pencil lead and earth.

Has been open and decanted for a couple of hours, nose is sharp blackberry tart. Palette rich cherry and current, also agree with the tobacco comment, well balanced and enjoyable.

really enjoyed this wine. Drank with BBQ ribeye, actually got some blueberries on nose with plum and anise notes. Really coming around since I drank last in 2006!

Impressive performance from this St Emilion rising star. Deep crimson hue, distinctive blackcurrants on nose and pallet. Lingering acidity and firm tannins which promise many more years of pleasure...will only get better.

modern style, thick wine , with impressive layers of dark jammy fruit, vanilla, a long finish. A concentrated wine, new world style. Lacks a bit of finesse and refreshing acids. But still, very impressive.

Nice nose with concentrated black fruit up front. Well-balanced with refined tannins and smooth, medium length finish. A pleasant if not powerful wine and a very good value.

Again, another solid wine and a AWESOME value. Wines like this will be my strategy for the 2005 campaign.
