Boy am I having an unlucky streak lately. Purchased 2 bottles from the winery and they went right into cold storage. The first bottle I opened a couple years ago was pretty but showed it needed some more time for the tannins to integrate. This one had that lovely strawberry nose I equate with aged Swans but the rest of the wine had fallen apart. Bricked color, old brown wine with no character. Hope my drain enjoyed it. Cork was pristine.

Over a decade in the bottle and consumed over two days. Rod made this zinfandel in an old school style to allow the fruit to survive. Good dark color with minimal oxidation, but lacking clarity. Aromas of black currant and boysenberry. Flavors of black raspberry with a long finish. This Zinfandel is balanced and in a good spot, drink up.

A lighter style zin with a dollop of fruit. It has aged well but is on the edge of decline I suspect. Nice body and fruit of dark berries, little pepper and approaches a full bodied merlot.

A vertical of Joseph Swan Zins (Scott & Jo's): Purple in color. The nose is tight with black raspberries, slight floral notes, and black pepper. Great texture. While the wine doesn't show layers of complexity it has a depth that suggests it will get there. Lots of black raspberry fruit and a hint of the black pepper comes thru too. Nice round balance. Worked well with the food. Great finish.

Opened a few days ago. Has a port-like nose, sweet and red fruited. Palate shows bright red fruit, some heat from the alcohol, medium in body, and rather refreshing with med acidity. Delicious now, drink over the next few years.

This is now a pop and pour and faded after 2 hours. Still decent fruit in the beginning . Tannins still present. Earthy and interesting but only the the above average level. Drink up

Dark fruit. Aged beautifully. Maybe because I recently bought from the winery.

Mellow, black berries, very smooth. Surprised that with this bottle age at how well it is standing up.

Revised rating. May be an off bottle or just past its prime. 88+.

Medium body. Spicy. Yet light and balanced in a way. Drinking well now for an 08. A bit boozy.

A nice restrained version of zinfandel. It hit the spot tonight. Good ace levels make it linger a bit. Good stuff.

15.8% alcohol. A big, jammy, ripe Zinfandel that maintains good natural acidity so it doesn't get too big and overdone. A fun, plush wine. B+

Solid wine overall. Drier style. Not a big fruit bomb. Some astringency but not off putting. Above average.
