  • O....M....G...what a brilliant bottle! Last had this out of Mag 7yrs ago, great then, but simply amazing tonight! Gorgeous shimmering green and gold color...nose of the sea...crushed limestone chalk, lemon blossoms, wet stones, fresh pitted orchard fruit bowl. Just SCREAMS Chablis! So bright and juicy in the mouth with the best orchard fruits...CUT with zippy fresh squeeze citrus, tart green apple skin...and that mineral limestone chalk dust, crushed oyster salinity is to DIE FOR! No signs of age...maybe a little honey butter with total integration. Such purity, seamless balance...a ride on a race boat going 80, in the smooth and calmest of waters...this is what Chablis is all about!

  • Man, I’m tired of aging French white wines only to be disappointed w premox. Last bottle of this was the same. I’ve had trouble w white Bordeaux, Chablis, and white burgundy.... what are the French doing (or not doing) versus the US? Never had a premoxed Cali white.

  • Bone dry, acid, oyster shell, subtle brine, let this warm up a little to close to room temp to allow the fruit to show. Drink now or forever.

  • Avg 50yr old vines...right in the heart GC Chablis.....the perfect shiny yellow, green tinge color.......this is pure Chablis! Ripe orchard fruit, creamy and silky smooth....squeeze of fresh lemon, grapefruit acidity....wonderful crushed saline minerals/stones...chalky and spicy....white honey, vanilla, white flowers. Not a powerful GC...more subtle grace, yet with great purity and length....a really great balanced feel here! Age should bring you even more closer to this Heaven! Great with frog's legs too!;-) +pts

  • Took some time to open up but when it does this is a very discrete but classy wine. No blaring fruit and loud shouts, more a reserved and assured quality. Sea shells, lemon and milky fruit with a very serene and assured depth. Years left in it, but very enjoyable now although I would recommend a decanter to let it breathe for an hour before drinking.

  • Full bodied, a lot of minerals, tart citrus and nicely dry. Long finish. Definitely the best wine I tasted of this producer, but not worth twice the price of the 1er Cru Mont de Milieu. 89-90; 89 for the moment.

  • Four leave clover with sprig of spring onion, some spice and herbs. Absolutely frog legs with lily pads. Needs time but already mushrooms and white alba truffles.

  • Crysanthemum, flowers along with minerals on the nose, very pretty nose. Lightly floral and some butteriness. Rounded, fat, some oilyness, yet sweet and sour green apples which is prob cos its young.

  • Burgundy 2011 Day 2: Visit to La Chablisienne (Chablis, Burgundy): Not quite as stunning as the 2008 Les Preuses, but this was a very good wine in its own right. What a nice nose. Fresh herbs, bits of cream, apple flesh, mushrooms and lots of complex minerally stuff that was still very tightly wound, quite beautiful. The palate was a bit leaner than the Preuses, a sign of the vintage rather than the terroir probably, but it had a wonderful sense of definition and direction, with pure, lovely minerality, lots of stone and flint, and just the tiniest hint of mushrooms and cream opening up at the back-end along with a sneaky hint of white meat - frog legs maybe, or that could have just been my overactive imagination. The wine was a bit linear at the moment, a touch austere, but it should be beautiful with time. A really nice effort.
