cork was slowly and skillfully removed with a Durand, revealing initially a musty nose of stale pool water. With time it acquired a very interesting freshly sliced shitake mushroom nose. mouth - also needed time to open up but had a very nice honeyed core with again fresh mushrooms on the finish.

This is labelled as "A. Foreau, viticulteur au 'Clos Naudin' a Vouvray." Unexpectedly in good shape from an unheralded vintage. Golden apple, classic Chenin wool and earth, this drinks mostly dry, the remaining sugar mostly more smoothing out and buffering the acidity rather than actually adding any discernible sweetness. Worked very nicely with Passover matzo ball soup.

Burnished brass color. Apricot on the nose. Slightly oxidized on the palate but blossomed quickly to honeyed mandarin with nice acidic spine. Lovely
