Nose: Muted funky floral. Taste: After 5 hour decant, a carapace of fruit with a bitter finish. Greatly improved on the 2nd day with far better integration. Needs time???

Well...this bottle reached the 10 year mark. I'll hold my last bottle another 5 years. The wine has complexity on the nose and on the palette. Brunello is a beautiful expression of the Sangiovese grape. Too bad the FRN$ has taken such a beating. The price on this bottle has now doubled. That's a shame.

plenty of fruit, though this bottle had as much prune as plum; nice acidity; the tannins have softened and this is smoother; this worked with a pork dish with dried fruit

nice plum and mushroom; tannins still present but are in proportion to the fruit; great with porcini ravioli with red pepper and pancetta in the sauce; good mid palate but perhaps a bit short; still has stuffing and can wait;

Decanted 1 hour, then drank over several more hours. Dark red fruit, cedar, celery seed, lots of earth. Medium to full bodied, moderate acidity. Approachable, but still rather tannic. This is just starting to develop some secondary flavors but will benefit from at least another couple of years of aging. Fruit profile grew darker and more powerful as the night went on, and the last sip was the best. Would probably do 90 minute to 2 hr initial decant if i was popping another bottle.

Hard to decipher -- on opening some mustiness and a metallic twinge but doesn't seem like TCA. Slow to open revealing bright red sappy fruit, pencil lead, flowers, red fruit on the nose. Palate is medium bodied with red fruit, dust, chalk and healthy punches of tannin and acid. Fairly long finish. Clearly traditionally styled and seemingly somewhat closed at the moment. Not largely changed on the second night. Not sure if it's a fully representative bottle but it's not a great glass of wine, at least for now, and I can't say much about where it's going as I don't know the producer at all.

Sampled at Fleming's in a flight. Cost about $6.67. The colour is opaque and ruby. The nose is of licorice and tobacco. The flavour is very spicy and very dry, with tobacco. The finish is long. The taste is very old world style. The tannins are mellow but still structural. Excellent (87.5).

Against my better instincts, I opened a bottle out of curiosity. Some cranberry and pencil lead on the nose. Tart and tannic on the palette. This wine remains austere and thus should stay in the cellar.

Flowers, top soil, cream, brambles, black cherry and cranberry. Mouth filling fruit, graphite. Silky tannins, long finish.
