Birthday wine decanted for about 3 hours. Crimson red colour. Dark berry fruit (plums, blackberries) and liqueur on the nose, slight gamey notes. Opens up on the palate to dark chocolate, raspberry liqueur and a rich savouriness. Beautifully integrated tannins, with slight grippiness on the back palate. Full bodied and delicious. Long, lingering finish.

Dark burgundy in color. Bricking rim. Meaty nose, with stewed plums, iodine, pencil lead. Cherries, graphite, loamy notes, with a medium finish. Has most definitely matured nicely and is in its prime drinking window. MUCH better than my first bottle consumed years ago. Worked perfectly with the left over turkey dinner.
Oh yeah! MAGNUMS are BETTER!!!!!

I was disappointed in this. Overly ripe and a bit to hot. The nose is full of dark fruit, but has a pruney note to it; a little bit of spice and herbs come through with air. The palate is big and feels blocky with no balance. Heat on the back end says to me this is likely closer to 15.5 than the 14.5 listed. Unimpressed and wouldn't buy again.

Upon opening, I noticed STRONG sulfur/olive aromas. The wine was very firm and astringent on the palate. Poured into a decanter, swirled vigorously, and came back to it after 30 minutes. Dark red/violet in the glass. Notes of: Blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, and anise on the nose (olive/sulfur totally gone). Mainly blueberry on the palate with vanilla, anise, and black pepper. Very firm and dry. Not plush or velvety. Immediate and very direct delivery. Long blueberry, black pepper finish.
Contrary to other tasters, I did not find this wine to be light, relative to other CDPs. In my opinion, this wine offers concentrated black fruit, and spice, supported by firm structure. Very dry, structured, concentrated, and complex.
2nd Bottle 2/8/15: This bottle did not give me the same experience as the first. Still had black fruit and similar flavor profile, but much less firm. My perception is that this one was much less tannic than the first, and therefore, less enjoyable to me. Think the first bottle was an anomaly. Lowered score accordingly.

Decanted 20 min. Relatively light for a 2009. Decent, but unremarkable, simple Châteauneuf. Fades by the end of the first hour (and needless to say, rubbish on the second evening). 100% Grenache (the absence of Mourvedre & Syrah is noticeable). Drink now. I wouldn't waste cellar space on this.
It is what it is - a CNdP towards the lower end of the price spectrum. Compared to the best it's rather lightweight, but at the price it is pleasant enough to drink. Not terribly 'earthy' or fruity in the way of a Clos Du Pape, say, but the basic elements are all there.

Nice and round. A hint of minerality with fruit and some evolved aromas (leather and sous-bois). Very gastronomic. Will evolve, but my half bottle was great.

Clear and bright, deep ruby colour and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium intensity aromas of strawberry, raspberry, walnut, cedar and yogurt. It's dry in the mouth with a medium acidity, medium+ fine grained tannins, high alcohol, medium body and medium intensity flavours of strawberry, raspberry, walnut, cedar and yogurt. Medium finish. It's a good quality wine, it lacks complexity and the finish could be longer, however it has a decent structure and balance between alcohol and tannins. Drink now, it has enough structure to develop some more complexity, but not that much fruit concentration, so it could improve over the next 3-4 years.

Nose not very open, needed some decant time to open up. . Very dark fruit with a steely vanilla edge. Entry is tasty, heavy and rich in dark fruit. A decent finish with a touch of leafy, herbal bitterness. OK acidity and a decent although a bit rough tannin backdrop. Decently made just not my cup of tea. Rich and soupy.

This wine is very young, but drinks quite well for the price and should be considered a great value. Needs a heavy decant and didn't really open up until two hours in, but then was much more expressive in terms of dark plum fruit and black cherry. Has a dried character indicative of the style and has a long, if a bit hot, finish. Overall, should improve with some age.

After 3 hours of decanting, banana and deep berry. The longer it sat, the more interesting.

Consistant with other comments this was very light, decidedly modern, but quite drinkable.

Disappointing. Overriding taste of black olives. Very overpriced restaurant purchase.
