  • The Premier Cru importer label brings back memories. This was a steal at $19.99 and only took a year to be delivered. Ah, those were the days.
Pours a medium ruby with some orange at the rim, beginning to show some age. On the nose, crushed rocks, loam, raspberry, citrus peel, roses. Thin and pretty acidic, not showing much fruit, with a rather lean and angular raspberry-cranberry profile. Finish is clipped, with some tannin pucker. Nice nose, but doesn't deliver on the palate. The last of my '08 Pavelots, save one Dominode.

  • PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-nearly semi-translucent med dark red minimal bricking
    -bright fresh red fruit
-med+ acidity somewhat buffered by the moderately sappy tart red-fruited mid-palate with a tight slightly bitter finish framed with med tannins
-more harmonious than a bottle 2 years ago though this still is on the upswing

  • Very attractive nose with spices that could cause one to confuse with Vosne (which I recall an experienced Burgundy taster doing with a Pavelot wine 20+ years ago). Palate is taut with red berry fruits and outstanding freshness. Still a young wine. Cellared since release.

  • Silky and smooth, this wine has moved on to a secondary stage. It is precise with red and dark berry fruit, light in weight, and still shows good freshness. Interesting to see the breadth of Narbantons in the lighter-weight register. A bit of tannin on the finish suggests that this wine will still age well for another 10+ years. Cellared since release.

  • Slow-ox 30 min, tasted over 2 hrs and Day 2
    -med dark red
-pretty perfumed berry sour red cherry; more complex on day 2 with some rhubarb and an unusual hint of white pepper
-higher acidity, med- weight with not quite enough density to totally buffer the acidity, sour cherry fruit dominant with some rocky minerality, med/med- tannins on decent length finish; bitter apple skin/cherry pit predominates on day 2
-a little imbalanced with the acidity but just enough sap to keep it in the pleasant range, still somewhat tight - suspect this has a few more years of upside before reaching a plateau

  • Very open at first with floral aromas and dark fruits, over time this wine closed down some, but nowhere like the previous bottle -- strawberry fruit and lighter and more finesse than I expect of Narbantons. Good tonight, but much more potential for 7-8 years down the road and after. Premier Cru may be in trouble now, but getting this wine from them for less than $22 (including sales tax) was a real steal. Cellared since release.

  • Open for business, quite a bit of cherry fruit, balanced acid and tannin.

  • I just did not listen to cfk49?? This is completely SHUT DOWN! to the back of the cellar with the rest of my bottles.

  • In a shut-down phase. Tasted thin and acidic. Wait 4-5 years for next bottle.

  • Red cherry, blackberry and mineral palate. great acid and a hint of tannin on the finish, really nice bottle that should improve.

  • Cellared since release. Still quite tight and more structured than I would have expected for Narbantons. But the wine is balanced and shows deep red cherry and strawberry fruit with medium weight, depth, outstanding intensity. It will make a superb wine with time.

  • This developed a very attractive floral nose of violets and roses after about an hour of aeration. Bright red cherry fruit flavors dominate, accented by orange peel and cranberry. Pleasantly tart acids give this an appealing energy and verve, while the fine-grained tannins on the back end suggest that this will continue to improve over the short term. Still, this is ready to go today. Very enjoyable and just sick value at $20 from one of PC's weekend special pricing sales.

  • Burgundy Tuesday--21 juin 2011: Immediate barnyard on the nose and then a big blast of cherry Icee. The sweetness is there but held in check by moderate tannins and acid. This is a beautiful wine for the medium term, already drinking well and showing lovely eastern spice.
