Not what I was expecting with 2008, plenty of ripeness and fat lush fruit, much more generous than others I’ve had from this year, the softer acid would make me want to drink these sooner if you have some, tasty.

PnP plus Vinturi. Lysol and freshly damp forest floor on the nose. Slightly sweet red fruits. Tannins pull together well. Slightly bitter on medium finish.

However aeration and a few hours of decanting made everything come together. Acidic backbone was still there, but in a very structured way that says this will age better than expected. Smokey, with a nice balance of bright and medium-dark fruit. Even got a hint of vanilla as the night went on.
Definitely hold for a while longer, but should show well in the future.

London Experimental Oenology Seminar (LEOS): Cherry and mint, hint of cranberry and licorice. Very ripe, concentrated. Beautiful. Pleasantly surprised by this 2008. I've been ignoring the 2008 vintage until now, but it turns out there are some real gems around too. Ready now but can be kept a couple of years or so, but it's not for the very long term (if you wanted to age a good Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a the long run, go for 2007s or 2010s).

Initially too acidic and hot. Very clunky.
