Again Deep Ruby Red with some signs of ageing. Ripe berries with some olive, tea, clove characters on the nose, no green underripe characters which are a problem with this variety, Due to late ripening. Palate shows sweet fruit , integrated oak now and good length with soft tannins now well made wine ready for drinking now at 8yrs of age or over the next few years.

Inky Deep red. Typical nose for this veriatal. Tar, green sulfurous vegetables, some dark Choco, and a little clove. Tar and black fruit on the pallet, dark cocoa, nice earthiness and spices. Well balanced and interesting. Med to long finish great structure and mouthfeel, nice and round. Big fan of carmenere

Deep dark red color. Distinct mineral/stony nose with some tar and gasoline (much nicer than it sounds :-). Taste has a nice prickling spicyness together with ripe dark berries. 87+

not a wine to pop and pour. i had to recork after half a glass and decant on day two till writing this tasting note. enticing nose of dark fruits, spices, coffee, and bell pepper. medium weight with big acid and medium tannins. not a HUGE wine, but definitely young juice. notes of violets, smoke, tobacco and dark cherry. medium finish. needs time.

Almost don't know how to describe this. Wines from Chile are so distinct, and this is no exception. On the nose I get what is my wine world a totally unique, and very special, evergreen aroma of maybe juniper, or cedar. We expect black tea and cocoa from Chilean wines, but this is step above. It is not unlike some eucalyptus trees around a vineyard leaving their oils in the soil. Very dark, and aromatic. Not especially heavy in the mouth. The acid is a little sharp but acceptable. Smooth tannins. I don't know if it is balanced, but I think it is, because we can't really tell if the alcohol is there. There is a smoky sandalwood flavor on the finish.

This must be the best carmenere I've ever tasted. Bell pepper, chestnut, musky syrup, raspberry jam, pine forrest (cedar?) & olives. Good concentration and silky structure.

Give this beauty plenty of air time. Open, recork and drink the next day seems to work best for me. Even better, cellar for a couple of years. Excellent value at $18 in Ontario.

Bordeaux Varietal Blind tasting (My place): Saturated ruby color. Petrol and heat on the nose. Palate with more petrol along with leather and pepper notes and some cherry at the back. Short finish. Least enjoyed wine of the evening.

Smooth and easy drinking not much decanting required, good QPR wine. Did not notice much herbal or vegetable notes.

As others have stated, give this time. Day one nose was very funky and not in a barnyard sort of way. Day two, violets, black tea, earthy, quite nice.

We highly recommend allowing this wine to breath for approximately 10-15 minutes. In addition it is favored with tomato cream sauce dishes.

The comments on letting it breathe are justified. It's a full bodied wine that has strong hints of pepper that works well with any tomato based sauce.
