Medium-light garnet. Expressive nose of red Pinot fruit, flowers with a conspicuous note of plum. Nice complexity. On the palate medium bodied with silky tannins and good acidity and freshness. Nose more impressive than palate which comes in a bit weak in the mid palate for a higher score. The 2009s are always lovely but do not have the depth of the 2010s is my verdict after having had both vintages for a few times now. Still, a solid Grd Ech.

The Verticals Tasting at La Paulée 2015 (Colicchio & Sons, New York): The most concentrated and dark of the three. Ripe cherry more than strawberry in the 2002. Despite this, it blends in soil, has no trace of oak, and retains a rare sense of restraint and elegance for the vintage. Outstanding and one of my favorite '09 reds today.

POB EP 2021 Dinner in SG: Drinking very nicely. Bouquet of earth, strawberry consistent on the palate with lovely freshness.

Long Weekend Lake Michigan; 8/19/2022-8/22/2022 (Leelanau County, MI): An excellent GE that is not very tannic. It boasts lovely, youthful and ripe red fruit that is framed nicely by some gentle spice. No doubt will be even more interesting once the ripe fruit demures.

Drouhin event. Spices, still some wood not fully integrated. Very primary but certainly drinkable.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Colicchio & Sons - New York NY): Tasted in 09/02/95 vertical, brief note. Lush black fruit with great spice. Structure remains in the background. Fruit's ripeness avoids extravagance with the wine's balance and sense of Vosne terroir.
