Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind. Very ripe with candied fruit, but able to carry it off with good enough density and borderline balance. Easy to ID as California Pinot and correctly identified as Central Coast.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind, Easily identified as Cali Pinot, then even got SLH (from multiple choice options). Rich red and black cherry with very good weight. Slightly sweeter than I would prefer, which detracted from any nuance this wine might have shown. came across as rich, but slightly too fat and one-dimensional. Also time to drink up.

Felt right away the cork was soft and knew i was in trouble when the two pronged extractor pushed the cork down the neck some. But was able to remove and it seemed on the skinny side to me. About 3/4 infiltrated so a good idea to try now. At first seemed a little weak in flavor, like past prime. Still, there was a spark of fruit intensity that lasted but a short while, then faded to other flavors. Forgot about this for a good two days and kept in bottle, and when i returned, it had evolved into a very decent wine. Cola flavors and cherry and wonderful fruit, and other flavors that made me wonder if this was the signature profile from this Pisoni's vineyard, as I haven't encountered this flavor much in all my tastings. This surprised me. I had written it off and had expected the wine to have fallen apart. The fact that it took 3 days to fully emerge says something to me. I would drink this now but usually when it takes this long for a wine to emerge, I say five years more. Don't know if other users will have same experience, or if wine will open quicker for them, as most want to consume same day, but recommended. Roar wines might be worth a closer look.

Big black cherry and beef nose. The palate is full and luscious with ripe cherries, plum, a hint of vanilla and a sumptuous feel. Long and mouthwatering with nice acidity. Awesome.

Way to young to be drinking, my impression is that it will gain several points with age. It is delicious, with lots of red fruit and nutmeg/cinnamon spice. I think the earhiness is what needs to evolve. Wonderful finish.

Nice nose of dark cherries and black berries. The palate is deep and pure with ripe berries but a constant green note that adds to the complexity rather than deter. Strong and tit. This wine needs more time but a pleasure to drink now if you don't mind tight power. Long finish.

Off-the-charts delicious. The combination of dark and red fruit was spectacular It was surprising how well it was showing. Most Pisoni vineyard wines need more time in the bottle, but this was nearly perfect.

Vibrant red color. Aromas of cherry, currant, plum, and minerals. Excellent mouth feel with flawless balance. Acid, alcohol, and fruit working well together. Long, long ripe and mature tannins on finish. Wish I had a case.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind New World Pinot Noir (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Double blind in New World Pinot Noir tasting. Ripe throughout in a style I find too fat and lacking energy. Rich, but simple.

Black cherry and earthy aromas and flavors culminating in a tasty finish let down by too much heat.
