Confirmed. Still a ton of life in this bottle. Grippy, complex, layered. All wrapped in that great set of notes that the good Doctor Crane always yields. I don’t see this getting any better - great drinking window.

It’s at its prime time already. The nose is quite aromatic with cassis, lead pencil, and Chinese herb (Fairy grass). On the palate, the medium-full body wine gave me the elegant balance with a long finish. Everything is just at the right window. No wonder the Napa grand cru was this good. The wine is still energetic. It should be able to last 15+years.

Still going strong. 1hr decant is plenty. Deep, rich plum and raspberry compote. Plush mouthfeel. Eucalyptus and slight mint lurks, too. Medium complexity and med - long finish. Great with steaks.

Either dumb phase or past prime. Dark fruit and spice on the front but very muted/absent on the middle and finish. Acidity is there but tannins are very mellow. Opened for 3 hours in bottle.

Decanted 1 hr. It needs it in my opinion. Nose is is fruity and hints of nutmeg, smoked meat, black ink. Very round. Vanilla creamy gelato on the nose, oak, a little heat also on the nose. Flavors raspberry, black berry almost chewy. Very round, silky mouth feel. A little bitterness on the finish, almost a dark chocolate and dried violets. Roast beef on nose. Very juicy. Mint raspberry nose. A couple transitions which was very enjoyable. Medium plus weight, acid medium. Much better than the last one I tried. I would say it needs the early oxidation.

Was excited to bring this bottle to a wine dinner and see how it was drinking. This still has maybe 2-3yrs until it even begins peaking. At pop and pour, it was big on the nose with smoky cedar, blueberries and cassis. Not as dark as expected on the palate as it mixed in red fruits, but the finish was insanely long. Texture felt so incredibly pure and lush.

PNP A bit tight and acidic. I believe it should be decanted. Lots of bruised apple, a bit of blackberry and cream on the nose and pallet. It seemed a little off. I would like to compare to a decanted one in the future.

Wonderful, just a few clicks from perfection. Concentrated, pure, some scorched earthiness and inherently sweet. Plenty of well balanced blueberry and fruit, some currant, a hint of cassis. Long polished finish. Has evolved tremendously from last bottle 3 years ago.

Spectacular! Love this vineyard. Decanted at cellar temp for 3 hours, re-bottled and took to restaurant. Black in the glass, deep dark fruits with a little bit of butter in the background on the nose. On the tongue, big, bold and balanced with a long finish. Multi layered with great nuances.

Decanted 3 hours. Started the night out at a Mexican food restaurant, returned to the house to share this bottle with friends. Beckstoffer Dr Crane is an outstanding wine that is garnet in color, a nose of dark fruits, truffles and forest floor after a spring rain, long legs, looong finish and silky tannins. This wine would be great with a meal; however, we really enjoyed this wine during a nice conversation... with numerous interruptions regarding how really enjoyable this wine is all by itself.

Deep color and starting to show just a little age around the rim. Dark, rich, black currant dominates the nose with vegetal aromas of rutabaga and bell pepper showing though. There is also a slight wild game aroma coming through. Full bodied. This wine fills your mouth. It's like wrapping a fire cracker with currants, bruised raspberries and espresso, lighting it, and placing it in your mouth. It just explodes. There is also some herbal notes coming through, as well as graphite and a very slight vanilla. The tannins are huge but so is the rest of the wine and they don't feel out of place. The finish lingers on for well over a minute and the flavors continue to develop. This is phenomenal. Enjoy!

Decanted at least an hour. Beautiful nose of ripe dark fruit and sweet oak. Concentrated dark fruit flavors on the palate, with chocolate, coffee and herb notes. Most impressive is the silky, smooth mouthfeel and perfectly integrated tannins for such a big wine. Delicious.

Ubervine ripened tomato and currant with some lead pencil, not much though. It was a little slatey and mouth filling with over the top tannins that were not unpleasant or dry and stringy, but rather taste bud puckering and attention grabbing, tasted like a baby that could benefit from some more time in the bottle.

I love pinots, but this cab blew me away. It is a dark, rich cab. The nose is complex, with hints of blackberry, black cherry and chocolate. On the palate, there is dark fruit, chocolate, tobacco and soft tannins. A very complex and delicious wine.

This is still a mere baby. Rich, tanic, with very pronounced oak at this point. Wait at least another 5 years before you touch this wine. Nice now, but better later. The rating is for now.

This followed Silver Oak Napa and blew it away. So deep, with multiple layers that make this an extremely adventurous wine. Dark fruit is dominant, layers of leather, vanilla, and dried currants.

A wonderful, well rounded, and complete wine. The nose was filled with sweet fruit and chocolate covered flowers!?! The tannins hit the front of your mouth hard and then as it hits the back of the mouth a wonderfully rich wine opens. Very rich yet medium to full bodied. Dark fruit, tanned leather, chocolate tones and a hint of vanilla/candy finish it off. Popped and poured, decant the next one because the wine opened and went from a 93 to a 97 by the last glass.

WOW! We had this wine with a beautiful steak at Mastro's. It was a blockbuster of a wine with beautiful black fruits, black currant, blackberry, dark cherries mixed with a melange of spices, plenty of structure from acid, tanins and hint of minerality. I couldn't stop smelling the wine throughout the entire evening since the nose was so alluring. The finish lasted for minutes. The wine complemented the steak beautifully making the whole meal something to remember. Parker hit the mark with this wine and I have no idea what wine James Laube was tasting. I guess his tastes are just radically different than mine.

Good, not great. I love it at $75, but certainly not a $150 wine. A commercial taste to it, like a Beringer.
