  • Perfect cork. Double decanted and left overnight. After the solid airing, this was in a great spot. Black berries, dark cherry and plum are rounded out with menthol, eucalyptus and a bit of aniseed and earth. Very tasty and the link between a plusher new world cab and the austerity of a traditional left bank Bordeaux. Tannins are mostly resolved and this is really velvety on the palate. Full bodied and excellent balance. Drunk over four nights and this continued to relax just a little each day. It’s clearly on the plateau and will easily stay there for another 10+ years. Really good!

  • Cracking wine, this has aged very well and is in a great drinking window. Soft and mellow tannins, really supple, such an earthy wine, gravelly, more in the dark red fruit spectrum, mocha and a hint of aniseed. Balance impeccable, usually my favourite in the Wendouree line up, this will keep going for some time yet but why wait.

  • Black fruits, eucalyptus. Medium bodied, balanced fruits, tannins and acids. Decent finish. Drank over 3 nights using the Repour device with little change at all.

  • A four hour decant was nowhere near enough. Retried again 24 hours later, still a tough baby.

This is obviously fine wine but right now it is unapproachable. And I don’t think it’s likely to be otherwise this side of 2028. A tannic monster. I think I did myself a tongue injury after one glass.

  • Dark, ruby. Blackberry, cedar on the nose. Some mint and traces of eucalyptus. Medium plus acidity, medium tannin, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol, long length. Same as nose on palate. A very good, elegant wine with years ahead of it still.
