Steak and Syrah Night (Tuscany Steakhouse): My final bottle of this vintage. Opened, but not decanted, for about 30 minutes before pouring. Time has been kind to this bottle. I have generally been disappointed in Martinelli's Syrahs. But this was very tasty. Complex, medium bodied, with a medium length finish. I had a second glass near the end of the night and had improved a bit over two hours.

Opened at a friend's home for dinner, we drank this slowly, so we were able to see it evolve through the night. Nice wine, medium length finish, dark color, and a LOT of sediment. The fruit is dying out, still a decent amount of acidity. Near the end of its life.

Initially great black pepper and violets character that is unmistakably Syrah, with more air this seemed to tone down and the chocolate driven oak came to dominate the nose a bit with chat and luxurious white chocolate notes, dense fresh purple fruit, some blue, meatier, slight green note, ripe and big especially drinking alongside the softer Crozes; the palate continues with lots of ripeness, grainy slightly green tannins tell me there is a lot of stem inclusion imparting considerably firm structure, ripe almost jammy fruit, and some heat from the 15.2% ABV; a nice wine but I prefer the 2006 to this, it took several hours in the decanter for this to develop some cohesion and balance; drink or hold.

Dense, dark plum colour. Nose of flint, black pepper, and blackberry. Full-bodied, moderate to high tannins, 15.2% alc. Tastes of espresso, cocoa, and black currant.

From 375ml. Agree with one of the previous tasters, pure Northern Rhone. Surprising intensity of meaty richness, bacon fat, olives, musky blackberries. No spice at all, which may turn off some tasters. Reminded me of a recently tasted Texier.

dry cherry and red currant with a prominent cedary finish; a bit of tobacco leaf; no pepper; some chance at improving over time, but too many other bottles to try first.....

Crushing disapointment - had one previously that was out of this world. I hope it was just an off bottle. Very hot and missing the classic bacon, etc flavors

pretty good, but not really exceptional and hard to believe this is a $75 wine (or maybe I'm just not a syrah fan). I hate to admit it, but I think this tastes a lot like the Martinelli Pinot Noirs.

Last bottle. Popped and poured. Great smooth Syrah that is in the company of DuMol. I wish I had more.

Liquid bacon, but in a good way! Very Northern Rhone.

Raspberry in color and nose of pepper and briar patch. A little smoke on the nose also. Raspberry and pepper with a medium finish.

Did not have much to offer as was very uni-dimensional and lacked any real subtlety.
