Interesting and unique. Some may say flawed. Oxidized and spicy strawberries. I feel as though I spilled my Tom Yum soup into the rose but drank it anyway.

This is not for the faint of heart. Strong spicy apple smell. Minerals and spices on the taste. The wine is very red, like a dark rose or even a light red, but it is a white. A Scholium white. Fierce. Note: ignore the sediment and oddness--your bottle is not likely corked.

More floral and high toned aromatics than the other two San Florianos, fresh red berries and savoury earthy elements on the palate, again conveyed with excellent balance and focus - though it doesn't have the depth of the Normale or the sense of purity the regular Rocky Hill had. Still a very enjoyable and compelling wine though.

Rebecca - More body that most white wines. Interesting caramel, vanilla and richness to it. There's a sweetness to it without it being sweet. High alcohol without any burning heat. Well crafted. There's fruit but not a fruity wine. Held up well to a filet mignon. I enjoyed it. The best rose I ever had.
Me - This is not a fruit driven wine. I get vanilla and caramel and acidity with maybe a whiff of strawberry. There is some non-descript component evocative of aging here, but it's not maderized at all. Very difficult to pinpoint. A friend of ours who shared it with us commented that it had a high alcohol content. I did not notice it, but the label said 16.8%, so it was obviously there for someone who notices things like that. This is a Scholium/Abe Schoener wine through and through. Not like anything you've tasted before. BUT this one is not some weird wine with oddball flavors you can't begin to figure out. It's just different.
We both agreed on the 90.

The color of burnt rosehip tea, really deep even by orange wine standards. Alcoholic citrus-find nose. The palate is savory and mineral, more like concentrated artificial flavors than actual fruit; obviously tastes nothing like previous pinot gris. The finish is mildly tart, and surprisingly cool given the high alcohol. I think this wine needs food to accompany, I wonder what kind. (score subject to reconsideration thereby)

Beautiful color - diffused ruby peach, with an oxidized patina. Cherry skin, leather, thyme, and woody overtones on the nose. Luscious. Smooth tannins, Sauternesque oxidized umami flavors, with rosy floral qualities that extend across the palate. Muted fruit. Still crisp in spite of its four years in a 30gal cask w/ no racking & only late sulfur. Thanks to Abe, Graeme & Jo for the half-bottle at the end of a fantastic bottling day.

I dug this. WOTN out of a bunch of average wines. Mouthfeel more like a red wine. Didn't notice the 16.9%.

Dark rose color on a white wine. The opposite of a fruit bomb: a mineral bomb.

This was perfect with chorizo and olives, much better with food.

Crazy wine. Sherry like but not oxidized. Glad I got to try this. Definitely a Scholium wine.
