40/40/20 Touriga Franca/Tinto Roriz/Touriga Nacional. 6 months 50% used oak. Nose of cranberry, molasses, raisin. Palette dried cranberry, raisinated cherry, woody or stemmy blueberry. Medium tannins might be too much for the rest of the structure. Interesting style for an American palette. Likely better as a food wine.

Fresh cherries and cranberries. Rather full-bodied with medium acidity, somewhat grippy tannins and have to agree with the "rustic" references in other notes. Surprisingly good paired with Thanksgiving turkey and traditional sides.

Crunchy, stoney cherries. Crisp, medium weight with a slightly rustic texture about it. Good with food. As noted in my last bottle, this gets a bit soft on the second day.

Spent a little more time with this; last time I used this wine mostly for cooking. Solid core of fresh, cool-toned cherry and cranberry fruits. Some pepper and warm stones. This starts off a bit jagged on the palate, but with about on hour of air it begins to flesh out a bit. Light bodied, medium tannins and a rather short finish. Not a bad little weekday wine. UPDATE: This totally lost structure on day two and became soft and flabby; not undrinkable, but unbalanced... note to self: drink up on day one.

Used mostly for cooking, but I do recall this being pleasant, if a bit rough and slightly rustic.

Dark ruby, nose of oak, smoke, tar, black fruit and spice. The flavour is blackberry fruit with integrated tannins and nice balance of acidity.
