Winemaker's Notes:
The point of creating this “inner” Chehalem Mountain Appellation Pinot Noir was to take advantage of the three excellent and interesting vineyards we have from this area (we bottled a total of six single vineyard Pinot Noirs from these three sites as well in 2013) and use their clonal diversity and vine ages running from 7th leaf to 21 year old plants as a combined strength. This shows the hallmark characteristic of marine soil sites to a tee. The wine does not lack in the least for richness, texture and mouthfeel however rather than building upon that textural component as Dundee Hill wines tend to do this wine runs a flavor profile that stands as a counter. The fruit is red fruited, deft and demure and a distinct minerality that ranges from crystalline to saline cuts through and gives the wine clarity and incredible elegance. This wine has the lifted, blossoming aromatics that the 2013 Pinot Noirs provide which, in part, allows them to have unusual enjoyability at such a young age but this wine will age for years and deliver outstanding complexity in its different phases of life.
