Clos Dubreuil is a small estate located in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux. The winery is led by Benoît Trocard, a 15th generation winemaker of the Trocard family. Benoit is among the most acclaimed young winemakers in Bordeaux. He is aided in the winemaking by Michel Rolland, one of the leading oenologists in the world, as well as his father and grandfather. The product of their collaboration is one of the most seductive, voluptuous Merlot-based wines produced anywhere.

Clos Dubreuil offers the first wine, Clos Dubreuil (pronounced Cloh Dubrey), a second wine named Anna, a rosé wine Clara, and a soon-to-be-released Dubreuil Chardonnay. Atypical of Bordeaux, the estate consists of nine non-contiguous parcels, offering an exceptional and dynamic range of terroirs. Each plot is vinified separately and blended only after barrel ageing. This selection of barrels creates the opportunity for Benoit and Michel to blend the finest possible cuvee. The vineyards of Clos Dubreuil are planted to approximately 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, with an average vine age of 35 years. While the Clos Dubreuil wine has traditionally contained nearly all Merlot, the estate has acquired some old vine Cabernet Franc and has begun to increase the amount of Cabernet Franc in the final blend.

Clos Dubreuil displays a combination of power, concentration, richness and finesse, with deep fruit flavors complementing round but firm tannins. Reflecting the soils of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, yields are low and the minerality is highly expressive. The wines are low in acidity, a vivid purple in color, and provide a distinctive freshness and a memorable long-lasting finish. Reflecting their Merlot base, the wines enjoy a long window of drinkability from 3-20+ years.

According to Robert Parker, the flagship Clos Dubreuil is “always one of the sexiest and most seductive offerings produced in Saint-Émilion.” Given the tiny production, consistent quality and high acclaim, it has become one of the most sought-after garagiste wines from the Right Bank.

Clos Dubreuil is a small-production chateau, especially by Bordeaux standards. The wines are available only in small quantities via our direct customer list and at a few, select restaurants. We do not sell our wine via wine retailers.
