  • 2002 Siduri Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard

Traci and I had this while eating a very good mushroom risotto and catching up on some DVR'ed TV shows.

Popped and poured and still a richly fruited nose of dark fruits, earth and a little fig maybe. On the palate pretty rich but with almost crunch like red fruits, some wet stone type acidity, a little orange rind. Finish was a little on the short side and this wasn't overly complex but still tasty. I still prefer Rosella's and Pisoni to Garys' for Pinot but that's my preference. If you have these, probably time to start thinking about cracking them.

  • 2002 Audelssa Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Terraces

Been a very long time since I've had one of these and frankly didn't realize I had not one, but two left. I remember tasting this wine with Erich and Gloria way back in 04 I think (along with a barrel sample of his Pinot Noir but I digress) and remember it being richly fruit, plush Cabernet. It's definitely shed some of that "baby fat" and was starting to really show some nice secondary characteristics - nice cassis fruit, a little tobacco and olive with a little wood spice and cocoa. Nice medium weight on the palate, with fine ripe tannins and medium length finish. Very nicely done.

Paired with a flank steak with arugula and roasted meyer lemon.

  • 2010 A.P. Vin Chardonnay Lagniappe Keefer Ranch Vineyard

Since I'm on a roll...we had this last night too...

I've had the 2009 a bunch (thanks Andrew!) which saw more new oak IIRC and had a much more nutmeg spice characteristic.

This version is lighter, crisper and much more citrus oriented. I liked it a lot. Fresh clean, citrus, a little bit of hazel nut and green apple with lively acidity but an underlying richness. Very well done.

PS I love the temperature label that let's you know when it's reached 59 degrees.

Disclaimer: Andrew and I are friends, I sometimes pop by his winery during harvest to lend a hand.
