PnP w gracious restaurant hosts. Looks like a pinot and tastes like one w depth and weight. Nicely balanced red and raspberries w sufficient tannins for short term aging and plenty of interest through dinner.

Restaurant purchase in Rhodes, and our first foray w local red wine this trip.
Old world nose thats heavy in fig, creosote and aged, black fruit. While it sits soft across the palate you can still sense its tannic youth.
No experience w greek wine beyond the chards and Sauv blancs weve had this week, but this 7 YO wine is truly enjoyable and paired well w my grilled lamb chops

It's been about two hours since I pulled the cork; did not decant this. Forest floor, smoke, pipe tobacco on the nose. Nicely balanced with super dark black fruit dominating, and plenty of tannins with a slightly sweet edge to their finish.
This is the most enjoyable of the four bottles I've had thus far, and l suspect they're in the heart of their drinking window; Great right now, this can easily last through 2028. I suspect I'll drink my remaining bottles in 2-3 years Has some of my earlier bottles have not been as solid as this

12/31/2023 6:49:00 PM - Hello D & R, yes, let’s keep sharing our tasting notes. Some great wines coming into their drinking window soon! Happy New Year!
6/18/2022 2:51:00 PM - Based on my (fortunately limited) experience with TX wine, I'm certain that your puppy is much more enjoyable that whatever wine you sampled!
6/18/2022 9:40:00 AM - Hi Davidand Rose,
Ironically, we were in your neck of the woods at the end of March. Well, we were in Texas hill country at Carter Creek. Came to taste some TX wine and get away with our new puppy.
Cheers and Peace to both of you!
1/25/2022 6:46:00 PM - I'm intrigued knowing that '19 was generally bullet-proof, but I'm taking a group back up to Pride late summer/fall and will pulll the trigger then if they still have any.
Used to love Pride but style changed when Foley left; still solid but not the same, though '16 and '17 show marked improvements with Sally J winemaker. Now return because I love their tasting experience and have a good relationship with their hospitality staff over many years.
1/25/2022 6:14:00 PM - DNR- any thoughts on the Pride Vintners select cab offering this week? 2019? I skipped the regular bottling for the second time in 20 years
2/10/2021 6:44:00 AM - D&R.....for some reason I only have '14s and '15s of the Restricted wines and they come off Spring and Diamond Mtn not Veeder, my bad there. I was thinking of the Mt. Brave merlot. Now, I'm curious why I haven't had other vintages of their wines????
2/10/2021 5:22:00 AM - D&R.....the 'Restricted' is just another vineyard on Veeder that Kendal Jackson owns...they don't make much off of it. A merlot, a syrah and a cab franc. Since I technically belong to the entire 'Spire Collection' club and not just the LaJota club, I am occasionally sent a 'Restricted' wine in one of my shipments. I really like their merlot and the '14 is just singing right nw. I finished my only bottle then emailed Will and he got 3 bottles out of their library right to me and there was no upcharge for being a library wine, which was nice. I'm pretty sure it was around $76. Cheers!
ps...Chris Carpenter makes the Restricted as well.......
10/22/2020 8:54:00 AM - Always exciting to get a 13% pay raise just by crossing state lines! Sadly, Sacramento and too many other capital cities dont want to understand basic economics.
9/12/2017 5:19:00 AM - Was just in Portland last week, and I've NEVER seen a homeless problem so bad. And they've institutionized homeless there on top of it all! Homeless are allowed to "occupy" any spot in the city, and are given a 1 week "eviction notice" to allow them to move onto the next place. Address the problem? Why bother? Thanks.
