  • 2015 Louis Roederer Champagne Blanc de Blancs

100% Chardonnay. Tasted at Binny’s on 6/29/23 in concert with other Roederer offerings. Co-hosted by District Sales Rep. Right out of the glass not as tight as the Cristal, more Feminate. Softer, well rounded nose of white peach, apple and subtle grapefruit. After 15 minutes butter and vanilla emerge. Classic flavors due being aged in Oak for 4 years. IMHO, don’t believe one will need to wait long to savor this beauty, maybe a year or two depending on format. A delicious cuvée built for midterm longevity.

  • 2015 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut

Very tight. Nose needed coaxing. At Champagne Tasting w/Masion Dist Rep at Binny’s. Clashing grapefruit, stone fruit, citrus, with a tinge of chauk on the finish. This seriously needs to lie down. Would wait until at least 2029 before sampling again. No news yet whether a Rose will grace the stage with this particular vintage. A very fine wine for those patient enough to wait.

  • 2010 Dom Pérignon Champagne

From Magnum at my 70th Birthday Party. Am blessed to have lived this long and have consumed so much Dom over the years. I got to drink about 45 minutes after uncorking. Immediate lite citrus and white fruit with a tinge of spice that tingled one’s nose. After over an hour the character changed somewhat. Bubbly opened up to include peach and pineapple tinge flavors and display strong carbonation. Would predict it is closing in on maturity but should be great for many years to come.
