Lemon peel, nice oak, complexity increases through finish, though I agree that if you are used to high alc %, buttery over the top Cali chards this wine might be a bit too subtle. Not overdone - but refined, like the RRV should be. A hint of toffee helps bridge the gap along the way. Great find if you like this sort of thing!

I don't get the negative press on this wine, perhaps we have all become spoiled by Latour and Bryant Family, but for the money, 35 bucks, this stuff is great. Dark Fruit, mainly blackberry, thick rich finish, tannins are especially smooth and polite for such a young wine in a tough vintage. Bravo, and I hate pooing Mondavi...

Just released, drinking better than the Sonoma, that needs some cellar time. Lemon peel, honey, minerals, its Kistler alright, tres bien! This is an outstanding year for Chardonnay and Kistler is leading the pack. Can't wait to try the Marcissan after I bug money bags for a birthday present...
