Understated, but very pleasant. Delicate tart cherry at first which gets taken over by some citrus acidity and tea-like tannin. However, the acid adds interest rather than detracts from the wine. (I read a note elsewhere that said "blood orange" and I think that's spot on.) Definitely a great value.

Lots of barnyard on the nose but this blows off after a couple hours. The fruit brings elderberry and cranberry to mind, but not quite as tart as those fruits. Not much acidity, mild to moderate tannin. This was my first time trying meunier and it reminded me a bit of zweigelt or lemberger. Might be fun having one at Thanksgiving next year.

2014 is actually a bit late to drink this one. It's a shadow of its former self. The acid is there but not much of the fruit. Felt like we missed out.
