This has evolved nicely over the past year or so. Similar to '12 vintage I had of this bottling, but with more structure and complexity. Notes of dark fruit, pepper, violets, and layers of au jus. Firm, fine sweet palate-staining tannin, good mix of acidity and a nice lingering finish. I still find this young, and think it should continue to improve in about 1-3 years more in bottle. But it is approachable and less primary than when I last had this over a year ago, especially given a good decant and time to breathe.
Double decanted and then let breathe for an hour. Soft and round with notes of ripe strawberry, raspberry intermixed with vanilla, sherbet and a small bit of cranberry and mineral. Easy approach with soft fine tannins, medium acidity, slightly hollow in the mid-palate, and ending with a gentle medium+ finish. This is ready now and should also hold for a few more years.
This showed so beautifully balanced, best I've had thus far of this wine. Similar TN as prior bottles, but even better and paired perfectly with pasta in basil marinara. Old world charm with layers of complexity, drinking great now.
