Fleurie is usually reliable, and this Gamay has the typical depth and smoothness. The bottle is truly unremarkable, and the pour reveals a slightly flat crimson. On the nose it is earthy, but the startling flavour is grapefruit on the tongue. Quite tart and actually I wonder how this would develop as it has a surprisingly long finish. It may not be everyone's preference (grapefruit often isn't), but for me interesting enough to open another bottle. Very pure.

Ultimately disappointing sadly to say. I had a lot of anticipation on this wine - decanted for 3 hours and served with steak and salad - I expected it to be the highlight of the meal - but it was ordinary. It is certainly ready to drink - not harsh at all and with a flat after taste with a touch of minerality it is ideal with food. The aroma is typically bordeaux -strong heady but with an earthy background and the can sauv is definitely easy to detect - slightly mineral but alas the slight flat draw on the tongue is sadly a little disappointing. A good wine - yes - A GREAT wine? maybe not....Would not buy again.

This was my second bottle consumed approximately 12 months later and it has improved significantly - much smoother on the tannins and with a wonderful blackberry nose. Excellent and very CNDP like - one issue though it is developing quite a cloud as the tannins drop out - almost a chalky texture to the wine - the flavour is great but very slightly off putting - maybe wait another year or decant longer (30 mins is not enough)
