  • NV Alfons Mucha Sekt Demi Sec

This is (now) made by Schloss Wachenheim in one of its German factories. No indication of geographical origin of the grapes, would be weird if they were actually Moravian. Anywho. Greenish paaaale yellow body, lively carbonation, huge head gone quickly, as expected. Some mild fruity touches in the aroma, almost gummi bear levels but subdued, well integrated, vaguely honeyish, even vaguely oaky. Basically random white grape, lightly tart, not that much though. Quite dry taste, some residual sweetness and fruity touches are there, sparkling wine "herbal" touches as well. Quite simple. Relatively easy drinking, simple sparkling wine, nothing thrilling, nothing bad.

  • 2019 Habánské Sklepy Rulandské šedé

12% So, the (or a) 2019 vintage of HS's Pinot Gris. No further designation is stated than Moravia, and it's a relative cheapo (thx Kiki and Miloš in any case for sharing!). So a big producer Moravian PG. How was it? Started nice enough, full fruity aroma, sweet, lychee, gum candy, along those lines. The taste, however, didn't follow suit much. Somewhat heavy, tartish, a bit salty, maybe lychee, my notes trail, but the mouthfeel and the finish kind of brought it down in my book.

  • 2017 Sladić Rosé

Bottle my mother received today and shared with me, because why not. Slightly darker but typically rosé color. Pleasant aroma, lovely raspberry-blueberry creamy touch before some minerally-herbal touches come in, a bit rough at the first moment, but opened up nicely enough. Dry taste, sweetish, ending dry, lightly sweetish and fruity, again, classic rosé notes, some citric undertones, ending dryish, lightly herbal and lightly minerally, a bit warming. Not a wow but a good wine anyway. 12%

9/18/2013 5:57:00 AM - Hi, many thanks for the notice. The Malvazija Istarska was brought back from Dubrovnik by a friend from one of my tasting circles which is why I have no photos and cannot therefore recall who the actual producer is. Similarly, the Žlahtina was a restaurant purchase at the Restaurant Nautika in Dubrovnik as far as I remember as this was back in 2009. I must have written what is on the label and probably misjudged that phrase as the producer's name. I will have to delete both notes as I cannot remember the names of the producers. Thanks again for your attention and best of luck in your work. Best wishes, Umay.
