Tasted at the Port with Palmer CEO Thomas Duroux. Compared to the 2004 I was served in vertical, this seemed the more approachable of the 2. Fruit and oak were well balanced with creamy vanilla present on the finish. Full-bodied and thick with a slightly tarry close. This one cried out for medium rare beef, wish I had some. A pleasure now or near future.

Tasted at the Port with Palmer CEO Thomas Duroux. A real stunner 14 yrs young. So much finesse and power on this one, swaying back and forth between floral notes and forest floor. The tannins were remarkably present but not surprising given the vintage and confirmation of vineyard conditions and production controls in the winery. Sampled against the 2008, very similar but later was slightly softer and less tannic.

Tasting at the Port with Palmer CEO Thomas Duroux. CEO does not refer to this as their 2nd wine, only different. Fantastic balance already between fruit and tertiary qualities. Loads of plum, black berry and spice notes but nothing too jammy. Tannins are present but reserved. Finish is long and tasty. Great now but could cellar for a decade.
