  • 2001 Seavey Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Opened for 2h but not decanted
    Rich dk purple
Intense nose of dk cherries, cassis, earth, firm cedar, chocolate(WOW!!)
Palate-full body, intense notes of ripe dk cherries, cassis, dominant firm chewy coarse tannins, firm acidity, cedar, great complexity, balance offset by very tannic structure with dk cherries, blackberries/cassis, anise, and mocha coming through after 30-45 min in my glass
35+ sec finish with coarse chewy tannins, firm acidity, and dk fruit, great aging potential 10-15 y, classic big powerful CS which needs time but complexity and structure will carry it through.
I feel this deserves another 2-5 years before opening another

  • 2003 Surh Cellars Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard

Allowed to sit in my Riedel Vinum for 45 minutes(TN for free run juice)

    Light ruby
Wonderful, elegant, intense, concentrated, baked cherries, strawberries, soft sweet cedar, soft spice, sl heat initially, but softens nicely, WOW!!!
Opens on palate to intense ripe luscious cherries, soft spice, med body, soft acid, fine well integrated tannins, well balanced, good degree of complexity
Finishes long with ripe cherries, soft spice, and fine tannins, 35+

This is not a soft, delicate PN, the fruit and intensity are all there!!!!!!!!!!
It is what the new wave Pinot is all about. I thought by color, it was going to be a light weight, but this PN will make you a believer. SLH rules!!!!
