  • 2004 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne

Opened at a local wine store as I was picking up some other wine, this was a treat. I usually like burgundy with some age so I wasn't that excited about trying this baby. However, I am glad I did. What a nose........this declassified now village wine had one of the best noses of any 04 burgundy that I have tried so far and maybe among the better young burgundy noses at this point in time. There was a complex mix of earth, mushroom and flowers that just delivered. The wine had a cloudy almost aged appearance and I was struck by the structure. I could smell this wine all day. I bought all 3 bottles he had to sell me and at under $90 I wish I could find more.

  • 2004 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard

Decent bottle of CA pinot that probably needs at least another year or two to realize it's potential. The wine had a nose of primarily cherries and earth on the palate more cherries, spice and vanilla. The finish was not great and the wine showed some heat. I ranked it a 90 on the potential.....that is I believe it will be a much better bottle in time.

  • 1982 Château Canon

A concentrated and dense bottle of wine with rich black and red fruits. The nose was almost like strawberry jelly with touches of vanilla. Not the most complex wine, but very enjoyable. I was suprised by how well this was drinking with a mouth of chocolate, prunes and a bit of tobacco. If you have some of this in your cellar, drink up!
