This exudes classicism. Some VA at first on the nose that blew off fairly fast. Really picked up aromatic steam after 15 to 20 minutes. Mysterious aromas and flavors in the tree bark/walnut department. Little to no fruit, but not in a dried out sense. Rather, we realized after a few minutes of sharing descriptors that not a single one was fruit. The tannins were in a nicely resolved place--slightly grippy but in no way astringent. This closes with a blast of tangy acidity that makes one reflexively reach for food.

Initially tight with overpowering heavy ash/smoke, this took a good 30 minutes to settle down and harmonize. Rather than classic cab franc green pepper, the savory came in the form of lead pencil, black olives, and cigar box. Blown away by the depth and structure for the price point.
This was my first Les Picasses. Whereas Raffault's Barnabes is a pleasant bistro-style wine, this is way more serious and ageworthy, and I would have expected the price gap between the two to be greater.

Light purplish color and very transparent to the point you could read text through it. Warm flavor profile but with welcome freshness on the finish. For me this is just about as good as it gets in the crushable red/glou glou category. As with the Danjou-Banessy Supernova drunk just before, a very radiant wine that just makes you want to smile.
