Amazing nose of cassis, licorice and a little saddle leather funk. On the palate, blackberries, and some nice mineralality with classic Diamond Mountain fruit. Long finish with no hint of tiredness. I've held this one for 27 years and wish I had more.

Certainly past its peak. Not much fruit up front on the nose at first. Almost seemed closed off. After 30 minutes in the glass it opened up a bit. And displayed som classic pinot noir nose and some mid-palate fruit. Moderate finish with no really detectable tannins at this stage. If you have any left, drink them now.

Still some dark fruit on the nose, blueberry pie and maybe a little stewed plum. Tannins are gone but there was surprisingly some life in this 2 decades old Washington merlot. Very smooth mid palate with a longish finish. I bought this knowing it could be long gone but I was pleasantly surprised and may buy the remaining bottles I saw on the shelf. The cork was very crumbly except for the last 3/8" or so. Forgot my ah-so and had to decant with a decanter strainer.
