Amazing nose of cassis, licorice and a little saddle leather funk. On the palate, blackberries, and some nice mineralality with classic Diamond Mountain fruit. Long finish with no hint of tiredness. I've held this one for 27 years and wish I had more.

Well done. Good mountain style fruit with notes of red rocks and spices. Plenty of acidity here and the wine is in balance and still young. Delicious with good concentration and richness and nice mineral complexity and crunch on the finish.

Thought it had turned at first, so we plugged the bottle and waited a day. Definitely improved on the 2nd day - I thought it was nice, although still a bit tannic and rough; Luann didn't much like it.

Has begun to evolve. Petit Verdot adds to the complexity. Had the 97 Beringer Private Reserve side by side, the next night. A match of equals.
