Rich and ripe but with finesse and layered complexity, this is unlike any other champagne I've tried. The flavours blend together to give a harmonious impression of deep, rounded autumnal flavours. The nose is powerful and warming with aromas of toasted coconut, nougat, hazelnuts and dark marmalade. On tasting, the flavours are different whilst still maintaining the autumnal theme; toffee apple, spiced poached pears, crème brûlée, nutmeg and allspice. The acidity is well balanced throughout and leads into grapefruit and citrus pith on the finish. Laced in amongst these flavours are other notes that I found really hard to pinpoint. Wet autumnal leaves? Something umami, perhaps? As the wine evolved, there were some heady floral scents of lily and hibiscus and some red berry flavours. Every mouthful tasted different and offered something new - fantastic to experience but frustrating to describe!

The nose has rich aromas of apricot, baked apple and a floral hit of honeysuckle. The palate leads with glazed apricot tart and sweet shortcrust pastry cut through with clean lemon acidity. In the middle there are tantalising hints of white pepper, vanilla and grapefruit before a long saline finish.

Eye: very pale straw. Clear, no sediment or haze. Aroma: intense floral aroma, elderflower and honeysuckle with some candied lemon peel and a little tropical fruit. Palate: More elderflower on the palate overlaid with passion fruit and citrus fruit. Good acidity and a soft, rounded mouthfeel. Long finish. Clean, fresh and very well balanced.
